This would work and make sense if the parent didn’t need anything from the teenager and that being quite different from Nancy needing a signature from Trump to reopen the government if Trump keeps the GOP in line.

It's called "walking away", and is a quite common negotiating tactic. The party that got walked out on is usually the one calling the other party back to the table with concessions.

I know this is hard for some to grasp, but Trump looks like the adult in the room. You don’t bargain with children when they won’t clean their room.
Example:
Parent: Will you clean your room?
Child: No, just give me what I want and then I’ll clean it.
Parent: We have tried that approach numerous times and your room never gets cleaned.
Child: I promise I’ll do it this time
Parent: Nope. Clean your room and then we can talk.
Child: (runs to room crying)

How is it everyone of these people are so good in their roles that they literally never show a crack in their grand charade? Pelosi screwed the pooch.
She admitted she had no intent in changing her position if Schumer/McConnell reopened the government.
Several Senate GOP's were wavering based on the assumption good-faith negotiations could continue if they reopened government. Those Senators were the ones Pelosi actually "bitch-slapped", as you put it.

They came to "talk and negotiate" then after Trump and team actually put Democrat ideas and language into a plan to secure borders WITH the wall,
Schumer and Pelosi just doubled down and said they won't support it no matter what, even after Trump is working Dem ideas into it because it's "a difference in policy" regarding how to handle the "manufactured crisis" (Btw, just last week in the small town I live in, my co-workers' 60 year old father was murdered from an illegal car jacking him at 6:30 and got away, but yea manufactured crisis)
So Trump was like, "ok, frick it, nothing to discuss here, then, you are wasting my time" and stormed out the room.
That somehow is perceived as a win for the Dems?
