I went to LSU. I've read other forums on here about things I'm interested in, but just looked in on this forum aghast from time to time.

It amazes me that people could think this is representative of "the median political opinion." It's far-right. I didn't interject into anything because some posters are, frankly, insulting jerks to anybody who doesn't agree with them and threats of violence seem to be the automatic response.

But seeing some of the mental pretzels people work themselves into ("The Confederacy is good and should be preserved, but Democrats are evil and racists, ask Robert Byrd!") are just downright insane.

A disagreement with your opinions, especially when those opinions are based on nothing more than the fact that you want to believe them rather than anything substantive, is not supposed to taken as a personal threat... but I guess that belies the nature of the belief system at play in a lot of cases.

I actually swore to myself last night I'd never come back. Boredom made me weak.

An echo chamber is the epistemological equivalent of inbreeding... it's gets more warped and infirm the longer it is a closed system.

I'm not sure there is a point in trying to provide any balance here, though. It's a hostile place with calls for armed insurrection when a Presidential administration that will probably not be able to get much past even a minority leader McConnell takes office for a time-limited term.

No one enjoys you...trust me.
