So I've been considering the influx of semi-new lefist posters...

Let me be clear, I'm talking about a specific subset of posters who lean left here.

I'm NOT talking about long time posters who have always leaned left and are taking victory laps. That makes perfect sense and honestly I enjoy their points of view, even if many times I disagree.

I'm NOT talking about posters with accounts that are multiple years old, but have few posts. Yes, those are almost certainly alters, which makes them pathetic...but even that I get.

I'm talking specifically about new accounts that have been created in the past couple of months that seemingly have no affiliation with LSU, another SEC program, any schools LSU has played, not from Louisiana, etc. See where I'm going with this? As an LSU Sports Message board at heart, it makes sense to have people from all over but who have that connection as the reason they originally showed up here. But we've had a very obvious influx of generic lefties that are here almost exclusively to throw rhetorical bombs all over and cause general mayhem.

Why? I think it's simply to cause someone here of fricking up and saying something so outlandish they can run to some "authority" and try and get things shut down. Truth is, nothing else makes sense based off of their behavior in most cases. And given what was posted a couple of days ago about some post on Reddit or wherever calling to light this place and how people needed to start turning us in, it only makes sense. They are not here to have a debate, as none of them are any good at it. They are not here to break up the "echo chamber" they consider it out of some goodness of their heart, again....because most of them are not engaging in debate. And while I'd find it pathetic, I don't even think that they've showed up just to troll the board for shits and giggles. Hell...did any posters here show up to lefty echo chambers" like DU and create an account just to frick with someone? It wouldn't have dawned on me to do that, but then I'm not insane.

Nah...I think it's to egg on posters here into saying or doing something so outrageous while tensions are high they they can run to some agency and cry about it. So, my suggestion is this...stop engaging them entirely. If you are arguing with a poster who seems uninterested in debate and has a post history that runs alllllllllll the way back to this past November, just stop. You are basically being engaged by the equivalent of your younger sibling in the back seat on a long trip who is poking you quietly waiting for you to punch the shite out of them so they can cry to mom and dad.

There are plenty of posters here to talk to and even argue with that you likely know from experience. My advice...stick to them and allow the, in some cases almost certainly, paid agitators to throw shite at the wall by themselves. Or don't...unlike the left I'm not interested in forcing you to do anyting.

Let them challenge your world view. You'll either change or will be able to better defend it.

I mean it seincerely.

Look, I've had my own issues with this board over the years. Back when it was actually more open, we'd have fantastic religious debates here. As an atheist, I enjoyed the hell out of those and the posters that took part in them enjoyed them too.

Then they got shut down almost entirely because some folks who were not interested in taking part in them so detested even having to see the subject lines of threads they were not forced to open, complained and got them taken away.

In that regard, I'm as big an outsider as you are in terms of politics here. I certainly don't want to be silenced for merely having a different opinion, and I would not want you or anyone else to either.

My point here is that I think many here are not truly here for that, and I don't think long time posters are the issue regardless of affiliation.

Confirmation Bias is dangerous. When you know something is dangerously wrong and say nothing or do not challenge, you're just as responsible.

Not many 'leftists' on here - more 'non-Trump supporters'

We hear the threats and saw first hand, how quickly things can spiral in to a frenzy.

Half of them are probably bots and the other half are newly unemployed Twitter trolls.

My argument is that they are not here to change anyone's world views. their behavior would be different. New posters with no affiliation to this place at all but for having seen a link on Twitter or Reddit are here throwing rhetorical bombs to cause trouble.

I love debating and am open to having my opinions changed. I have a long enough track record of debate and conversation to back that up here. I'm not advocating for an echo chamber where there is no debate after all. if I was, I'd have not singled out a particular subset of posters on the left, right?

I lean liberal, but I’ve never once thought about trying to silence the board. Regardless of how crazy I think some of the stories are, it’s your right to believe and say whatever you want. The only time I might feel that way is if an armed protest was actively being promoted. I don’t think that’s a really good idea at this point

Trolling and being trolled is a right of passage for most ranters. The alters and agitators should be purged though...

new people to tell to go frick themselves

I like it.

They bring nothing new, just spout the same nonsense, almost hard to tell the difference, like they are the same.

I remember when this started happening. They were no better than the people they are bitching about now censoring everyone

Why can't someone believe just about everything you guys believe, but the only difference is they think Trump is not the answer. Most of us believe everything you believe, America first, stop China, free speech, no illegal immigration, etc, we just think Trump is doing more harm than good. He destroyed the party, destroyed your voice, because now the majority of the country thinks everything he says is a lie. Trump did some really great things for the country. You don't beat the other side by just insulting them, you beat them with smarter people, and better policies. Trump had two out of the three, but he is a horrible person. The few on here that are like me, hate to see what he has done to the party. We saw it coming and knew it would happen. That's why we are so pissed.

It is, though it's not been anything I enjoy all that much...and that's after being on LSU message boards since 1999. I love arguing, and enjoy heated debate as well. But I've always been of the mind that I'm not going to tell anyone anything here that I would not be happy to tell to their face. I guess that comes partly because when I first got started on these boards most posters really did know each other's names. Many would post photos of themselves and their families. These were not closed boards, btw. Doxxing for the purpose of harming someone really wasn't much of a concern then.

So I do still function much the same way. If I wouldn't say it directly to you, I won't say it here. I also do this weird thing where I don't lie at all on here. What would be the point? If I'm engaged in a debate, I want to win it with facts. I'm not always right in my beliefs, and have had them altered form time to time, but I'm never going to throw out something I know is false to score some hollow point.

Respectfully, I think this is an interesting topic, but it's not the topic of this thread. If you started a thread like this, I'd be happy to take part in it, because I actually have some thoughts about your POV.

Spout the same nonsense. Yep, that fits you to a T.

I'm sure you will insult my wife, children and mother when you read this. That's your nonsense and standard reply. I wish we could meet at a Sonic so you could say it to my face.

Well-reasoned and stated wisdom, GT.

Note that Chicken had to forewarn re overt, threatening posts. Though 'threatening' (*Insurrection/Sedition*) is a Subjective judgment, as any evidence of electoral fraud is wholly dismissed by the Left. Dismissed, of course, for the safety and security of our valorous CURRENT Society/Government, as it were.

When Trump was the helm...Cities burned; and the 'protest' were justified.

Herding cats. Won't end well.
