Do I make an attack against their ships? Do I invade Iraq and recruit my allies into a quagmire? Do I wage a meaningful offensive for a first strike? Do I hit targets that are important?

No ... I hit two oil tankers...that have no strategic value..and invite a crippling counter strike that kicks my arse.

I’m sorry. Not buying it.

Convinced with no evidence of a false flag.

You’re justified in being skeptical.

Nevertheless, this seems like a bizarrely weak attempt at a false flag to instigate war. Seems like they would have staged a more aggressive action if that was their intent.

The rebels we supported being tied to Assyrian chem weapons bombings...that were blamed on Assad ...were pretty weak too. I mean if you’re going to chem women and children what are a couple of oil tankers?

I’m so sick of this shite.

Im not sure of much one way or another on this situation yet, but here's a possible scenario: support for military action within the U.S., both citizens and Congress, appears to be severely lacking, and we'd have a tough time putting together a decent coalition. Knowing all this, Iran COULD be putting the U.S. in a tough predicament via small provocations that are extremely tough (for reasons stated above) to forcefully respond to, thus making U.S. look somewhat weak.

Iran's economy is collapsing, and their citizens are running out of patience. Iran needs to be seen as a victim of US aggression now more than ever! Iran has incentive to make it look like the US had their fingerprints on that tanker attack.

Anyone who thinks our own country did it is a ungrateful piece of shite. Support the country that made you prosperous.

I think that other country(ies) that would benefit from a conflict with Iran are more likely.

US Now Admits Syrian "Rebels" Have Used Chemical Weapons

"

From the first moment chemical weapons were used on the Syrian battlefield, the American public was led to believe that only one side could possibly be responsible. The constant refrain in the echo chamber of US government officials and the mainstream media was that only the Assad government possessed chemical stockpiles and the technological capability of deploying such heinous weapons, therefore blame for each and every chemical attack from Ghouta to Khan Sheikhoun was laid at the feet of Assad and the Syrian military.

And yet last Wednesday, for the first time, the US State Department casually dropped an important admission into its official Syria travel warning for American citizens: that the core rebel group currently operating in northwest Syria not only possesses but has used chemical weapons - to the point that the State Department considers it a major enough threat to publicly warn citizens about."

It's not like there isn't ample evidence that our government agencies have done this numerous times.

Considering that we are now exporter of oil, $50K of high explosives on the other side of the Earth just increased bottom-lines over here by the millions.

Actually the fact we are an exporter of oil kept the price from escalating much at all.
