writing a $30k check to the Treasury the first quarter of this year was...annoying
Never got that high but did write a 22K one for the second quarter of 2012.....after that I put my wife and my oldest son on payroll.....got them to have a few deductions on the front end and every year they get a nice refund....I let the boy keep the money (refund) and use it for school and the used car he purchased

you'll probably get some of that back in your return
when you own the business, you write fat checks in April

I’ve always said I’ll make Churchill's Transition when I begin paying taxes in the higher income brackets and have kids.
I’m not there yet, but I think those are the two events that eventually trigger the transition.

I get my paycheck today. I grossed a really nice number. However, between federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare, state tax, and 401(k) (7% with a 3% match), I only take home 60% of what I grossed.
Taxes are the cost of doing business, my goal every year is to make so much fricking money you dont miss the taxable portion!

I was in sales(timeshare) and remember a month I made $28,000. thought I was on top of the world, then I got my check... after that I would just cut what I made in half and that's what I would expect in the end.

Yeah, our accounting system extrapolates it out as if you made whatever number biweekly for the year, so I’ve given Uncle Sam an interest free loan for 6 months or so.

Well 20% of gdp paid by half the people equals 40%
Now watch how much more attention the people who don’t pay get vs those who do and you will be finished in another week or 2

If you can't identify the problems like this without it personally affecting you, then you are still an idiot.
FYI, you will really get it once ryou realize that they are coming for more and are blaming you for not paying enough.

Welcome, now you have 15 or so years of catching up to do. Start with Henry Hazlitt's Economics in One Lesson or Thomas Sowell's Applied Economics and, to use TD speak, "get woke."

Smart. Pay taxes as you go, if you hit a lick send your accountant 30% of it right off the top, before you pay yourself.
It takes discipline but the IRS doesnt have a lien on my home like they do on 94% of PI lawyers homes.

The fricking Death tax makes me want to do very bad things. Very.

I like money that's why I don't want to give it away especially to people who are going to light it on fire.
