Pulling out of TPP wasn't "true conservatism". Trump talking about huge infrastructure bills throughout the campaign wasn't "true conservatism".

You have never liked Trump and you never will. His supporters know he isn't a "true conservative", which is why he flipped Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Pennsylvania... something no "true conservative" on the planet could have achieved.

So thank your God Emperor for saving SCOTUS for 2 generations (at least) and suck our nuts.

Great - so Trump designs an infrastructure spending plan with them for next time and makes the GOP come to heel. Win/Win/Win.

At some point the dems have to give on something though. The general consensus is that they will not, and the budget issues, legitimate tax reform, and more notably the wall will never get done. Like always, they will get what they want, and never give anything in return.

Not true. And they are all very different. Mitchell is a true conservative with a populist bent. Cernovich is new-right and closer to people like me. Dobbs is like your pseudo-racist grandfather who bemoans the shifting demographics and wants blue collar white Americans to cling to relevancy for as long as possible. Hannity is like Mitchell.

All completely different segments of the MAGA army.

Yes. Going to be funny to see Trumpkins saying those that don't support the Schumer-Pelosi position are not true conservatives.

That is grossly over-simplistic and you know it. If this move leads to tax reform and immigration reform, bet your sweetass I support the "Schumer-Pelosi position"

Spending a boatload on infrastructure is a no brainer. Finally we get to waste money on long overdue American roads, bridges, airports, railways, and parks and benefit from the influx of cash and jobs that come along with it (instead of pissing it away overseas).

I's insane that no president has done this since on a very large scale since the immediate aftermath of WWII. It just proves how powerful the neocons/neoliberals and the military industrial complex is.

It's hilarious to read these stories about how they Republican leaders "were fuming" and acting like that translates into voters giving a single frick. Why would you even bother to poll it?

Trump forced their hand. Now they don't get to slow walk Trumps agenda for the rest of the cycle but instead have to actual...gasp....make tough votes.

These people are beyond useless and the proof is right here in front of us. Think about it...they are complaining more about having to make a tough vote to raise the debt ceiling than they have about literally any other piece of legislation put in front of them.

No unlike you I'll applaud him when he does things I like. Gorsuch was a winning move. Getting rid of a lot of useless administrative burdens was a winner. But cheering when he sides with Pelosi and Schumer is not a winning move and only a cultist would think it is.

Depends on a few things.
1. Did they get together to do something good for the country, or for Americans?

2. Will Pelosi and Shumer reciprocate by working on some of the things Trump wants that they oppose?

Trickle down has worked every time its tried: JFK, Reagan, and W. Collapse occurred because of housing bubble mandated br Clinton and Fannie/Freddie debacle pushed by Congressional Black Caucus, combined with W's refusing to fight them!

They've accomplished one thing. They have proven Democrats right when they say "Republicans can't govern"

Potentially

No. That's the only problem I have with this. They are only going to work with him on things they approve of and want, like an infrastructure plan. They will never reciprocate and give in to spending cuts or legitimate tax reform, the wall, etc. It's just not how they work.

Look, Trump capitulating on this deal isn't the worse thing in the world. If republicans weren't prepared to go to the mat on a longer deal, and they couldn't because of the storms, then cutting your losses and moving on makes some sense.

My problem, as usual, isn't so much with Trump but his supporters on this board who want to read his every utterance and gesture as divinely inspired. "Trump took action X; therefore action X must be brilliant! Quick everyone figure out how brilliant it was!"

This might be amusing if I didn't know that if Trump had just refused to even try to work with the Dems that you wouldn't be bitching about that too. Just STFU already.

I remember a tiem when it wasn't so unusual for the two parties to work together .
