Well, we are close to 1984 so yes

Yeah, it was the era of 'detente.' The basic agreement was simple:
a. USSR and the West will continue as is. No change coming so no need to fight.
b. Best thing for both is to be friendly and make peace.
Of course, the 'USSR will always exist part' was wrong. A lot of occupied countries like Hungary and the Czechs tried to cut loose and were beaten down. Carter gave them no public support because he didn't want to piss off the USSR. Then Reagan came along and things changed.

In 1984 I was in basic at Ft. Benning.
Iran was the dominant topic of the marching songs.

Then Reagan came along and things changed.
Then Clinton came along, expanded NATO eastward, used it militarily against Serbia while undercutting Yeltsin in the process. We were rewarded with Putin and an abandonment of the Russian foray into democracy.
... and the beat goes on, the beat goes on.

Ha! I see what you did there.
“On the sixth day of Hate Week, after the processions, the speeches, the shouting, the singing, the banners, the posters, the films, the waxworks, the rolling of drums and squealing of trumpets, the tramp of marching feet, the grinding of the caterpillars of tanks, the roar of massed planes, the booming of guns — after six days of this, when the great orgasm was quivering to its climax and the general hatred of Eurasia had boiled up into such delirium that if the crowd could have got their hands on the two thousand Eurasian war criminals who were to be publicly hanged on the last day of the proceedings, they would unquestionably have torn them to pieces — at just this moment it had been announced that Oceania was not after all at war with Eurasia. Oceania was at war with Eastasia. Eurasia was an ally.” George Orwell: 1984.

SimpFag is so conflicted. His TV screen told him to hate Muh Russia and he dutifully complied. Now he’s upset because the same TV screen is telling him to hate the brown guys with the laundry on their head.

Is this board jumping into Lenin level rhetoric about Russia?

No. The point here is not to relitigate the Cold War but to point out that at this late stage, the biggest threat to continued Liberty in this nation comes not from Moscow, Beijing or Tehran but from the continual lies perpetrated by permanent bipartisan ruling junta in the Potomac Beltway.

Russia and Iran are simply distractions:

Of course, the warmongers in DC can't justify nato if they don't have Russia as an enemy. That's why Clinton was told to refuse Russia joining the North Atlantic Terrorist Organization.
