And not much of that. Enough to eat it 2-3 times a week is plenty.

Lawsuits aren't necessary.
Do any of you have something called a memory? How many times can you remember these items being removed from Food Assistance programs?
I can remember a bunch of times over the past couple of decades. People cheer it, stop paying attention, and they all get put right back on the list, quietly, in legilslation signed by the same people who fought to have them removed...
BECAUSE programs like this are not at all about the recipients, they are government subsidies to the food industry. Without subsidies, the industry would be too volatile and prices might spike, businesses at different levels might go bankrupt, and there would be riots when food becomes scarce.
And these companies and the groups that represent them employ lobbyists.
And when they get removed from the lists, having their subsidies reduced, those lobbyists pay a visit to our elected officials and remind them that their campaign contribution can go to their challenger in the next election if they are hurting their clients.
So it gets restored, tucked into the small print of a bill about something unrelated, and you don't hear about it...
Then a couple of years later somebody brings it up again to score political points and the entire process starts again,
It's just political theater. But you keep buying tickets.

I'm old and i remember in the 80's you'd get government cheese. It was a soft cheese in a cardboard box. I don't recall welfare could get pop and snacks. Food was dirt cheap back in the 80s and 90s. Chuck roast was poor people food..now its $12/lb.

Thank Fanjul brothers for that. They profited from sugar tarriffs for decades. Americans pay a higher price for sugar than rest of the world.

Give them meal vouchers for healthy meals from the local school cafeteria. Pay the schools to keep the cafeteria open after school and on the weekends. That way we can keep people from starving and at the same time stop paying for people to eat McDonald's Popeyes, Taco Bell, and other extremely unhealthy meals.

You don’t have to be a genius to not be a retard. You don’t even have to read the entire story linked in the OP. You just have to read the snippet that was quoted, which tells you that the suit was brought by “The National Center for Law and Economic Justice, a nonprofit”.
That should tell you all you need to know in that that the named plaintiffs aren’t paying the lawyers. But I guess asking someone to read and understand even that snippet is too much to ask for you, huh?
