So who have you voted for for President that is better than a Trump / Gabbard ticket?

Trump / Pence? That's really the other other option. Every other ticket was worse and less "conservative" in today's terms (foreign intervention) including Reagan / Bush if you're in your 60's.

If Gabbard is on the ticket, then every single person I have ever voted for for President is better, because she is a literal far left liberal and is a Democrat.

I don't care that she is pretending to be an Independent. She is only doing that because she discovered an audience for when her political career seemed to be ending.

She was in Congress in 2020. That isn't exactly 20 years ago. We can look at her record.

Again:

She can run for Congress again, as a Republican. She can vote on issues and we can see where she stands. She should do that.

The Republican nominee is 80 fricking years old. I don't want someone with her record that close to the Presidency.

The Republican Party is well and truly over since we are even having this conversation.

No you wouldn't. She would have eaten it all by then.

Thank God. And if you think that's a bad thing than you are essentially on the Bill Kristol team of neocons.

Disagree. The Republican Party needed to go in the exact opposite direction it has gone for the past almost 20 years. Stop nominating Romney/McCain/Trump and nominate a Ronald Reagan.

No, not at all.

In name maybe. We're due for a party replacement. Don't expect the policy portfolio to change though. Two big tents is all we'll ever have.

Conservatism on the national stage died with Rush.

It is what it is.

Conservatism is an inherently losing battle across political history. Managing the pace of that failure defines party success.

We haven't had a true "conservetive" nominee since at least Reagan, and GHWB and the neocons were running things since at least 84 anyhow. Why are you acting like this is a new thing. At least America First can appeal to minorities, mix the most important aspects of what you want into the platform, and last into the future.

Your version of "Conservatism" has zero chance yesterday, today, or ever.

"America First" will not exist in any appreciable way within the next 1-5 years.

It's gonna be an establishment Republican as vp. I hope it isn't...but it will be, imo.

I've said multiple times that I'd very much prefer Tulsi over an establishment Republican. We know where tulsi stands, she is opposed to trump on a lot of policies. We know what to expect.

Establishment Republicans will pretend to be on the same wavelength as trump on everything. They will fight against trump secretly, while still smiling and pretending to be maga. I'd rather have a tulsi as vp, than a snake in the grass.

This is only under the pretense that the only rnc approved option trump selects...is an establishment Republican.

Harris ended Harris' campaign.

She had the lowest favorability of the 764 candidates in that primary

Then we are doomed because the type of candidate you want cannot win a national election

Tulsi is more aligned with what I care about as much as anyone else. Having another white male conservative hawk is a recipe for a loss this November. We are already behind the 8-ball because of Roe being overturned. It’s not 2016 anymore when Trump had to align with someone with impeccable conservative credentials to secure the nomination and assure the religious right of the base. All those people are going to fall in line anyway after four years of Biden.

The point is to win the election and Trump will call the shots anyway.

Because a true conservetive by the very nature of the term won't have the personality traits needed to win a national election. DeSantis is just the latest example of that.

You'll need a Milei, a Trump, a Farage, a Vivek.
