We are either 49 or 50 for most objective measures on health, education, economy, opportunity. Now recently saw an article where LA ranked #5 in the country (and worst in the SE) for population loss. More people are leaving than coming into the state which cannot be good long term. This beautiful state and its people deserve better. What needs to happen to fundamentally change this (and don’t blame it on just republicans or democrats….we haven’t made much progress under both parties)

Go start your own state with like minded people then.

But Jon Bel raised taxes and balanced the budget.

Louisiana is a welfare state. Learning how to milk the system is passed down to other generations. That will be tough to overcome.

Better people.

I kid, I kid.

I’m a native Louisianan and I love the damn salt of the earth down home real crazy bastards and lovely ladies.

Louisiana has typically condoned a level of corruption and unaccountability and general trashiness though.

The biggest problem is a demographic issue, but if you don't pretend to not notice this, you're accused of the modern day equivalent of heresy.

Correlation would imply it also has a demographic problem.

Theyre tied with Texas on education at 38/39, dramatic increase.

Other than Jackson and the delta, MS has made great strides in education.

Clean up the political corruption. We were slow AF to get sports betting implemented because no one could agree on who would get to profit from it. Truck stops in Port Allen wouldn't be happy unless they could put a kiosk next to the video poker machine.

We'll never see the end of inspection stickers because too many mom and pop places depend on the revenue.

It doesn't matter what's best for the state. How can I reward my people for my political donations they send me?

The state is getting what it keeps voting for.

Corrupt progressive Dems and corrupt good ole boy republicans.

Want the state to get better, put better people in office. Until then nothing will improve.

Indeed.

Pretty impressive leap.
