I was getting in trouble a lot, and had no direction, until I was shipped to a state boot camp for delinquents when I was 17. Totally changed my life and direction, and, led directly to my joining the military, which I would have never considered prior to that, so I'm a believer in that style of discipline for the right personality types. But, considering 90% of the guys in the program with me went right back to what they were doing, with most of them graduating on to the adult system, I just don't think the juice is worth the squeeze on a national level.

S. Korea has mandatory military service for all males.
There's a country that mandates military service for ALL. I don't remember which one tho. But they're Serious about it. All service people HAVE to maintain control of their service weapon at all times. Whether they are on duty, or not.
Which means you see a lot of military walking around strapped. And since it's all, you see a lot of women walking around strapped. That aspect is kinda hot, ngl.
I can imagine their crime rates are low.

I agree. On both counts. Getting them out of their bubble could also be beneficial to them too.
Tho I think basic needs to go back to the standards of Our day. Back when drill sergeants were in the right to not care about somebody's "feelings".
It definitely would have been better for me at 18. I actually went in and signed up in the Army after graduating. I got all the way to failing the physical. Found out that I had heart conditions

No, just like 9/11 and what that did for recruitment, if and when America is attacked we won’t need a draft.
There are a tremendous amount of extremely competent and capable already highly trained men that are no longer in the military because if the vax and all of this DEI bullshite that would gladly be welcomed back if they knew they were needed.

You want the same wokeheads running the Pentagon and the military right now running a draft too? That is an absolutely awful idea that would guarantee no one other than Christian heterosexual white men get inducted into the military against their will. If you don't think they wouldn't politicize the draft you are dumb enough to be on The View.

Military needs a purge badly at the moment. Fix the ranks and leadership and the recruiting problem will take care of itself. A draft is meant for an emergency scenario essentially. You would make the problems in the military worse not better if you institue a draft.
