While every bit of this is a lie let’s pretend it isn’t....how does that make the situation tenable TODAY? We had slavery in the US for a long time...it’s been part of human history forever...still is....that doesn’t justify it....it was and always will be wrong.

Everything is the fault of the US, right? People make decisions every day that "split up families". Commit a crime, pay the consequence. Put your children in harm's way and commit a crime, pay the consequence. I assure you if I commit a crime the courts will not take in to consideration that prison would split me from my kids.
Law breakers are not provided an exception to the rule.
