If you're going to have property taxes (they're not going away) then it needs to be a level playing field.

Churches are running real estate scams in every county in this country.

You continue to ignore the question. Either you think this is applicable to all 501(c)(3)s or you're specifically trying to target churches.

Entities that own real property all over the country to facilitate income streams: food banks, churches, endowments, education orgs, healthcare non-profits, etc.

Labeling one type of investment type which is widely used by both secular and religious non-profits as a "scam" is ridiculous unless you have more to offer on this.

I thought I made it clear. All real estate should get taxed unless it's county, state, Corps of Engineer, etc. Every single parcel. Regardless of any set of status.

If you're going to tax the 90 year old woman for her run down bungalow that's been paid off for 40 years and threaten her with a tax lien and possible homelessness then every entity should share that burden.

Why tax them? That is the wrong group to go out and destroy.

Who? Churches? I'm not limiting it to churches.

That 90 year old already gets a property tax bill. And if she gets one then churches sitting on multi million dollar parcels should as well.

So you want the local Goodwill to be taxed?

How do you tax an organization like Goodwill when they are not for profit and don't make any money?

That 90 year old makes next to nothing as well and gets a property tax assessment and bill.

If they take a political stance I say they void their tax exemption!

Everyone of them takes a political stance. What you mean is "if they take a political stance that I don't agree with then tax them."

I ain't got time for that. Tax land and improvements regardless of feelings or beliefs.

I was part of the finance committee for 3 churches in three different states. All were barely able to meet expenses with income and pay to have the ac repaired. Employees including the pastor paid into SS, medicare and income tax. Property tax breaks were in place with the local government understanding the social services provided in most cases by volunteers.
There is no money in the church business, no pot of gold for the tax man from the vast majority of churches. A couple of rich churches exist, but that is not the norm. Any meaningful conversation of tax the church should be predicated on what specifically would be taxed.

F*ck no. Don’t you believe in the separation of church and state?

That 90 year old owns the property.

Goodwill doesn't own any property. Someone else owns that property and leases the property to them.

non-profit != doesn’t make money. I know one “non-profit” that tallies up how much money they have left at the end of the year and spits it up between employees. They make a killing.

Nope. Taxation is just theft. More theft isn't going to make society better. It's just going to make things worse.
