There's no way to know why this is happening. It's a total mystery. It's probably Trump's fault. Either that or systemic racism

Shootings across the city surged 200 percent during the past week — more than doubling the increase from the same time period last year, according to NYPD data released Monday.
The week that ended Sunday saw 49 people killed or wounded in 42 incidents, three times the number of shootings from the same week in 2020, the official statistics show.
But the spike is all the more alarming because it represents the acceleration of a trend that began a year ago when shootings rose 90 percent — from 10 to 19 — compared to the same week in 2019.
The latest wave of bloodshed included 24 people shot in 20 incidents from Friday to Sunday.
Two of those victims died, including a man shot in broad daylight while sitting in a car in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

If these shooters ever got some range time the numbers will really spike.
There has to be plenty of incidents that are never reported because they completely missed.
