yeah, that's a major issue. That statement warns pregnant women about Tylenol but doesn’t say what to do if they get a high fever. Untreated fever in pregnancy can definitely cause complications like preterm labor or even harm the baby. Tylenol is the only approved treatment for this indication. Alternatives are more risky. What should women do?

Leaving that part out is like telling people not to wear seatbelts because they may cause bruises, without mentioning how to avoid car crash harms.

There is leeway to take it if absolutely indicated. This isn't a "never" but a judicious application recommendation.

Weigh the risks with their pcp. With both working together to determine the right path that is within care and care providers risk tolerance.

The statement is not what people will see. What they will see is GEOTUS saying over and over and over in that press conference not to take acetaminophen.

But all the legacy media marched out their fake medical experts to tell us that there’s zero evidence of this!?!

Would there be as much of a risk from seldom usage vs. frequent usage to relieve ANY aches and pains one might have?

better their obstetrician and yes, this is right. The WH is ignoring what obstetrical experts are saying about this and what guidance obstetricians will be getting.

I do see how that's a concern. A majority of pregnant women are getting consistent care and I hope they talk to their doctors. But yes, I agree Trump may have over made his point.

The others in the presser weren't like that- although I agree that the news will likely focus on Trump's words rather than his knowledgeable team.

But at least it promotes a conversation

But in seriousness, the problem i have seen and continue to see is that drs impose their own risk tolerance on patients regardless if the are health aware or not. My wife is an Alaska native and I cannot tell you how many times ive been astounded at the awful skills of the pcp when it comes to drs imposing their own will and risk tolerances on folks. Basically they try to shut down any educational opportunities or discussion with the patient over how they view their own Healthcare

Risks/benefits of pain treatment in pregnancy is going to be grayer than for fever. Pain in pregnancy is very common, basically ubiquitous. This info will make them anxious and will make them want to ask their doctors who will say ... tylenol is safer than alternatives and will take it case by case on whether benefits of treatment outweigh risks. I'd expect women may be looking to take other otc's that are riskier, but the risks of which aren't getting lots of headlines, and so this could be a net harm, which is why other national health services aren't spotlighting this info in this way. It's irresponsible.

FACT: Evidence suggests acetaminophen use in pregnant women, especially late in pregnancy, may cause long-term neurological effects in their children.

Scientists have proposed biological mechanisms linking prenatal acetaminophen exposure to altered brain development.

So 60 million DEM's moms took Tylenol late in the pregnancy? We found the problem.

No objections here. Our communication is mediocre at best. Definitely needs to improve, but there are a lot of good communicators out there. If you find them, keep them.

My mom didn't take meds that I know of, but I have pictures of her with bartle and james winecoolers and virginia slim cigarettes when she was pregnant with my siblings.

I’m a doctor. I don’t recommend the covid vaccine. I don’t throw meds at patients for mildly elevated glucose, blood pressure, or cholesterol. I voted for Trump three times.
But this is silly.

I haven’t seen a single doctor I’m personally friends with agree with the Trump show today. And everyone of them is a three time Trump voting Republican

You must be GenX. Our parents were pretty crazy...I know for a fact my mom smoked some Virginia Slims while pregnant with me and drank some beer a couple of times.. My older sister told me about it..

I'm sure they said the same thing about Joseph Lister.
