I've seen some stats where Scalia didn't show several times in the past so I'm not sure the Rs can use this as a gotcha.

Some 30 years ago, SC Justices presented them selves devoid of political opinion. If you look back at some of Reagan's SOTU addresses, the Justices sat stone-faced without applauding.
