Heard a great interview of whoever it was just making the following point.
Thune is a republican senator from South Dakota. That’s who he represents. How do South Dakota’s constituents feel about the save America act?
Like the rest of the country. So why don’t they demand Thune to actively work to get it passed?
Media needs to ask these questions of demorat and republican politicians.

Not only is it terrible (and I have posted extensively as to why), but it wouldn't fix the problem and worse, would likely result in hard blue states using it to disenfranchise rural voters (who vote overwhelmingly Republican...like 90%).
The people constantly whining about it have obviously never read it.
The reality of the situation is that there is no fixing this problem at the federal level without a constitutional amendment. Under the constitution, the states get to oversee and implement the mandates of the act (or any other act someone comes up with.)
All the act does is basically create mandates for registering to vote. But blue states would still let unqualified people register to vote because they would have the sole discretion on how to enforce the mandates, specifically the verification of credentials, and at least some of them would do things at the state and local level to make it more difficult for people living in rural areas to get their credentials verified and easier for unqualified people to have theirs verified. The mandates would be like handing them a weapon that they were supposed to use on illegals, but that Congress can't control. So they would just selectively use it on likely Republican voters instead, and no one would be able to do anything about it.
My guess is that at least some of the Republicans have read the bill and realize that it would be worse than ineffective, but aren't saying it because MAGA is largely too childish and stupid to understand the reasons why it shouldn't pass. So instead of trying to explain it they are just running out the clock on it.
They know that populists don't care about reality. They know they just want something to bitch about and create a conspiracy around, and no matter what the Republicans say the conspiracy addicts will still mindlessly blabber, "Uniparty, Deep State, eGOP, RINOs, etc., etc."
I wish they would at least try to explain it, but I get why they don't. After all, I keep posting here day after day and it doesn't make the tiniest little dent, so I understand how they feel.
For all their constant bitching about the party, MAGA never once considers that they might be the problem.
At best, populist stupidity enables the political theatre that the Republicans engage in. At worst, it requires it.

The SAVE Act cuts against those interests. It has no chance in the Senate. That's why Thune won't even put it up for a vote to show us which Republican senators to primary. It would be all of them.

I think I'm shifting to point of view some have on here that a lot of Rinos like being in the minority, where they can blabber conservative rhetoric with the excuse that nothing can be done since they're minority, yet can pocket money from their big donors.

When do LA congressmen and Senators come meet with a wide variety of their constituents? Mike Johnson had a couple recently but even someone like Clay Higgins doesn't really do it. They'll have these fundraisers where it cost $1000 just to get in the door and everyone pats them on the back but nobody answering any hard questions

Trump wasn't a politician or running for political office though. That didn't happen until 2015. Kennedy has been in politics for a few decades.
