They need to rewrite the disability laws to qualify for SSDI. That’s what is killing SS faster than anything, not the retirees. If you have ADD or overweight you can qualify for SSDI benefits.

Then there are people like my mother, she worked in the private sector and paid all that money into SS for 20 years. She had a disabled child, left the private sector to be a teacher’s aide so she would be home to take of that child. When she was 65 she realized if she retired they would cut her SS check significantly, they call it double dipping, even though you paid into both systems. So, she continued to work to 75 just so she could get her SS and increase her retirement enough to offset her SS losses. She lived another two years before she died, good hardworking people get screwed while our nation takes care of able body freeloaders.

Blue Dog Democrats are a bit of a different animal. They would probably do in a pinch.

I went to church with Bill for years.

We are on a first name basis.

We were never friends, or anything. More acquaintances.

Dude lost me the first year of his Senate term.

these guys are complete idiots
Yet, by comparison the electorate, who they are abusing, makes them look brilliant.

---

Our Current Budget (2022)
Revenue: $4.9T
Expenditures: $6.3
Deficit: 28.5% ($1.4T)

The Current SS Budget w/ SSTF offset (2022-2034)
Deficit: 0%

The SS Budget After 2034
Deficit: 20%

...

So why the panicked emphasis on SS?
On a percentage basis, our current general budget deficits exceed any anticipated SS deficits by 42.5%! With our current deficit at nearly 30%, the emphasis on SS (a program currently running in the black) really makes no sense. Does it?

I makes no sense unless you understand the purpose of SS is to serve as a procurer of cheap US debt vehicles. The Feds need SS running in the black! Cassidy and King know this. John Q. Public still views the SS program as a "benefit." So who are the real idiots?

Cassidy is probably drawing pension from LSU, his former hospital, the Federal government and I doubt he knows what's going on with the workforce and retirees.

Other options on the table include changing the existing formula that calculates monthly benefits from one based on a worker’s average earnings over 35 years to a different formula that’s based instead on the number of years spent working and paying into Social Security.

The plan also includes a proposed sovereign wealth fund (as previously reported by Semafor) that could be seeded with $1.5 trillion or more in borrowed money to jumpstart stock investments, the people said. If it fails to generate an 8% return, both the maximum taxable income and the payroll tax rate would be increased to ensure Social Security stays on track to be solvent another 75 years.
