This just sounds asinine.

Danforth was a piece of shite when he was in the Senate, why wouldn't he be one now?

Both political parties have gravitated toward their extremes, but given our backgrounds, our primary concern is the GOP, which is firmly under MAGA’s influence

Oh right. The party that is literally fricking murdering people who disagree with them while their politicians who are openly encouraging violence keep egging it on, they're not the problem at all.

It's those nasty Republicans and their prayer vigil.

JFC every time I think we're nearing peak clown world, some dumb shite steps up and proves that were nowhere near the bottom yet.

Trump has expanded the Republican base. There are Democrats that have crossed over because of common sense policies. There is no going back to war monger, swampy candidates.

Who? Former Senator Danforth? Episcopalian minister? The sane denomination that ordains women, lesbians, translosers as ministers?

He is the poster boy of the weak kneed liberal RINO for the problems that we have today. Senator Danforth deserves to rot in hell.

Conservatives had their run with bush and it was a disaster. MAGA is 1000x better than conservatism.

He admits that identity politics are a thing, traditionally used by democrats... then says the ONE group consistently trashed by identity politics has been "hoodwinked"... which is it?

As for the rest... "true conservatism" can come after the MAGA reckoning- progressivism needs to be put to bed first.

Imagine still thinking the GOP is relevant without MAGA.

They wanted Jeb Bush to run against Hillary for Christ sake.

Then they wanted Hillary to win.

They probably voted for Kamala

“Roots”, i.e., laying down for Democrats at every available opportunity.

Translation: "We want to go back to the system where GOP candidates talked about small government, but never actually kept govt small. We go to DC and get rich and then when its time to get reelected, we start talking small government again"

Danforth's way got 8 years of Obama. Would have netted HRC crushing Jeb! in 2016. They would have 7 on the Supreme Court. 2nd Amendment would be gutted.

I liked Danforth. Liked as in past tense.

I agree with you on Strassel, but for her take on the Comey, James, and now Bolton prosecutions as lawfare and retribution for what was done to Trump and his supporters both. They broke the laws in the process and tried to take down a duly elected president and his administration. They also tried to keep him off the ballot in Maine and Colorado, and by putting him in jail. They restricted his free speech rights and made him go to court every day in NYC.

Same with Bannon and Navarro, and others.

If the DOJ and FBI and all that took part in this illegal conspiracy are not held to account, it will happen again. Next time it will include all ICE agents.

We are still in dark times. I personally don’t want to be a speed bump on the road to oblivion. I want Trump, his team, and successors to be the lasting change agents to bring America back from the brink.

It’s not going to be easy. All of us need to do our part like Trump.
