I’ll believe it when I see it. I’ll bet it goes back to status quo from two years ago.

Where is this guaranteed anywhere? The right to elect my own race? I live in Harris County and would LOVE to be able to elect my own race.

Go back and read the ruling. It's not about race anymore. Why do you think they gerrymandered the black districts in the first place?

Man, can you imagine just how much our country will prosper for the better once all this race shite is finally behind us ?!? GOD Bless America.

So long as the lines aren't purposefully drawn to negatively effect black voters, it is legal according to Callais.

Nothing they do will mean anything unless the SCOTUS lifts the injunction they have against Alabama.

Makes sense. Every Dem district in AL was drawn that way for race.

Yeah, I know.

If SCOTUS doesn't lift it, nothing they do will count. It's my understanding that it doesn't just block them from returning to the previous map, it blocks them from any redistricting until 2030.

Good

Republicans have to learn to be ruthless like Democrats if they want to remain relevant

Surely they will lift injunctions that cannot survive their own rulings. If not...we live in clown world.

Who says blacks can’t get elected?

Callais said could not draw districts on race and disenfranchising a third of the voters from electing their own race is going to get strict scrutiny.

How is the redistricting based on race? The new disctricts will be more diverse than current ones. No group is entitled to be guaranteed a rep of their own race, and nothing is preventing a black congressman from being elected in the new districts. They’ll just have to find a quality candidate that appeals to a wide swath of voters

Do you think voting and race are mentioned together within the constitution?

...and who is "a third of the voters"?

This is going to be to put pressure on Jeff Landry to draw a 6-0 map for Louisiana

What a concept.

Elected by the quality of their character and competence, and not the color of their skin.

I’d like to see how the gerrymandered black districts nationwide correspond with the national black population in terms of percentage representation.
