I bet dems are now kicking themselves for allowing that to happen.
They might, but I like the "rule". Hypothetical questions in this context are nothing more than meaningless political fodder. Supreme Court nominees have no business playing that game. It should be about their qualifications, fitness for office, and nothing else

Ted is so much more likable in this setting than he was when he ran for president. It’s amazing.

Couldn't agree more. Its a tragedy how bad he is when he's on stage alone. He is far, far better in an adversarial setting than when he has the pulpit to himself.
I guess he is personally somewhat unlikeable so it makes sense

Does it matter that kavanaugh lied under oath to congress?

What is the difference between settled law and stare decisis(precedent) or is there?
Posted on 9/6/18 at 1:52 pm to UFMatt
Jesus fricking Christ these Dems are just not going to accept his stance that "my decision will depend on context of the times, case presented, and the previous rulings" on their precious issues. It's what ANY judge would say and should be. Everything they are asking is hypotheticals.
fricking bastards.
fricking bastards.

Settled law means they believe it to be done and dusted.
Precedence means "would you change it in the future," which is bullshite bc it's a HYPOTHETICAL situation.
No you can't say Roe v Wade is settled law bc you cannot foretell what issues will arise in the future.

She got thrown out with the quickness.

Settled law
Is nothing more than a meaningless buzz-phrase that politicians can use to pander to the populace.
Any person who uses that phrase in a serious manner should be disregarded as either partisan or woefully ignorant

Say what now? I must have missed something.

It is to the point that the paid protesters won't be called off because they were already promised money. Grassley is releasing every document the democrats are requesting (even getting Dubya's permission and the DOJ are working on it) The democrats look absolutely hyper-partisan if they vote no for Kav.

im not privy to the rules of this but why even let the public in these if theyre going to yell and scream?

Because a significant portion of the GOP midterm strategy is portraying the Democrats as a bunch of ignorant sky screamers. Allowing them to yell nonsense, inaudible, one-sentence phrases, while interrupting SCOTUS nomination hearings and being escorted from the building plays right into that message.

Senator Coons may be the most obnoxious Democrat to speak today, and thats saying something.
