A study published in the journal Neuropsychologia has shown that religious fundamentalism is, in part, the result of a functional impairment in a brain region known as the prefrontal cortex.

The findings suggest that damage to particular areas of the prefrontal cortex indirectly promotes religious fundamentalism by diminishing cognitive flexibility and openness—a psychology term that describes a personality trait which involves dimensions like curiosity, creativity, and open-mindedness.

Also, there must be a lot of people with a specific kind of brain damage.

Since we're in the mood to believe science, how many genders are there?

.... scientists simultaneously discover through extensive research that the above picture is an example of courage and bravery. If you can't accept that, you are a bigot and you hate science.

Very, very subjectively.

Which is weird, cause most of the nasa OGs grandpa introduced me to were outside of st catherines church in titusville. I can't think of more curious, creative, open-minded people than those who invented space travel.

So you're saying absolute brilliant men like C.S. Lewis were brain damaged? Sweet science, bro.

From the story (so I'm not sure if it's used in the study):

quote:

Religious fundamentalism refers to an ideology that emphasizes traditional religious texts and rituals and discourages progressive thinking about religion and social issues.

Doesn't sound agenda driven at all.

And I'm nowhere near being religious.

So the polar opposites and centuries old enemies of religious fundamentalists have conducted a study with the purpose of linking a defective condition with them?

Never could have predicted this.

I'm sure it equally applies to political fundamentalism as well, not excluding the progressive sort.

Sounds like orthodox Christianity, to me. Apparently billions of people throughout history suffered from specific brain damage.

The study doesn't pass the smell test.

Just going off of the regressive protesters and liberal California laws penalizing those indicating only 2 genders.

You must laugh alot
