So the two minority leaders are trying to pass a bill...I guess they need to look like they have some power.

They're proposing a $50 billion "plan" that includes repealing the Trump Tax plan. Press conference included leaders of both unions bashing Trump and Republicans. Obviously, they're attempting to use teacher pay as a platform heading into the midterm elections.

its proved a popular topic.

Shouldn't pay increases be a reward for a job well done?

Are not states responsible for paying teacher salaries?
That's why people in those states play lotto and pay taxes no?

Also how much of the 50 billion would be union dues?

Try laying ANY OF THAT o teachers and see where it lands you. A month or so back there was a thread on the Baltimore school system not having a single student who could read or do math at grade level and I just made the comment that teachers had to be held at least somewhat responsible, not all but somewhat, for that and the liberal posters here went ape shite .

We all know any money intended for teachers will actually flow to high level administrators and union leaders.

Pretty much. States should have the right to make these decisions. They need to just privatize them and get it over with.

States are responsible, and for the most part set wages, but federal money is at least partially used to pay those salaries.
