I know enough about this thread and your assertion that it is mere hope. Period.

I don't have to read the entire thread to know that.

Saying there definitely is a god and saying there definitely is not a god are both affirmative declarations.

I would think for such a fan of facts, you would also recognize the need to back up your statement that there is definitely not a god with some sort of fact.

It's totally OK to simply take the less arrogant route and admit we don't know. I've always laughed at the hubris involved on either side at thinking they definitely have it all figured out.

The most willfully ignorant people I have ever met in my life have been fundamentalist Christians. They have virtually no intellectual curiosity whatsoever.

And the same could be said about those who espouse atheism. Different sides of the coin. Fact.

You haven't provided one fact. All you've said is that you don't believe there is a God. How does your belief make it a fact? Where are your verifiable facts that I can test?

I am taking responsibility for it. You said a dumb and boastful thing that your beliefs are based in verifiable facts and I'm still waiting for those.

I'm still waiting on even one of these observable truths of yours that there is no God and you haven't provided one.
You've made atheism look very foolish in this thread by your words and that is apparent by the lack of the usual atheists that often chime in to these threads with glee.
You've dug yourself a giant hole that you can't dig yourself out of and instead of just admitting your beliefs have no proof and are based on faith, you've simply doubled and tripled down making your situation worse.

If I'm understanding him correctly, he's not saying that it's a fact that there's no god. He's saying that there is a lack of facts that support the existence of god--basically there isn't enough evidence to convince him to believe in god. So he doesn't believe.

That doesn't mean he is definitely saying, "No, there's no god." He's saying, "I don't believe in god for lack of evidence."

His stance would still be one based on facts, because he's looking at the available evidence (the facts that are verifiable) and seeing there's nothing to convince him a god exists.

This contrasts with believers who believe on faith. Their belief can arguably be said not to be based on facts, because faith, by definition, is the belief in something that cannot be proven. It's generally not controversial that many believers--probably most--believe based on faith.

He's really not saying anything that should be controversial.

He said his atheist beliefs are based on verifiable facts. This is as bold and straightforward a statement as there is. Now the burden of proof to provide these facts are on him. Where are they?

He has zero facts to support there is no God. It is a blind faith that God does not exist but he desperately wants this to be true. This way he will not be held accountable for how he lives his life. But, currently there is zero evidence that God does not exist.

Currently there's zero evidence that God does exist. What now? Seems like a very silly thing for you all to argue about.

As a Christian I could probably list a 1000 pieces of evidence to support my faith in there is a god. You would then try to figure out why each one of them is wrong in your mind and you would try to prove it.

An Atheist can not list any pieces of evidence to support that there is no God. It is a 100% blind faith. That makes that easy. Nothing to debate here.

You seriously cannot believe that? That is beyond laughable at face value.

In regards to the philosophical argument for and against, you will find what you have been looking for.

Each and every time.

Classic atheist response. Will attack Christian's evidence but is unwilling to show any evidence to support their own believe. Classic.

Walk right out your front door. Pull up a chair. Look around. The most common means God has used to show you He exists. Creation itself.

I'm really curious to read just 1. Although, if it is something like "a woman got cancer, prayed to have it cured, then it was gone a year later", I'm not really going to take that one to the bank.

Atheism is not a belief. It is a lack of belief in god(s).

How can you guys keep making this same mistake in this thread. Maybe that one guy claimed he had evidence that god does not exist, but most atheists do not claim to have such evidence (mostly because you cannot prove a negative). Atheist simply say that there is no evidence for god's existence, so they don't waste their time worshiping.

You also can't provide a single shred of evidence that there isn't an invisible dragon in my garage. It's an overplayed argument, but accurate nonetheless.

You show your utter ignorance with every post. And you didn't capitalize "God". Your blasphemy will send you to Hell.

Okay, I believe that my God created your God in a classroom science project. You cannot prove that this didn't happen, so clearly it's possible.
