Instead, the "50% discount" on excess tariffs other countries place on us actually incentivizes other countries to just ramp their tariffs higher on U.S. goods.

I'm laughing at this logic.

Trump and Bessent have to drive institutions/people into buying bonds to bring the US rate down below 4% (hopefully). The US has $7 TRILLION+ of debt it has to refinance this year. If you were smarter, you could have shorted this move like many of us did. It is not too late to purchase bonds before the rates drop like stone.

Not to mention Trump bringing US global trade closer to a valid definition of "free trade", and bringing manufacturing back to US soil. Its not really worth mentioning because those lead the news every day. But there is more going on under the surface.

Anyone who follows econ at all knows we have to go through the pain.

I said it earlier this year, we have to suffer.

WE have to. If we dont suffer now we will never get out of what we are in. We have to pay the piper.

Save your money. Its going to be a rough ride.

Stop with the foolish spending people.

Ive been preaching this for months now.

how does anyone (who doesn’t have trumps dick on their mouth) think a trade war is a good idea?

Who thinks it's a good idea that other countries get to charge us tarriffs but we can't tarriff their goods coming in?

you have to be a comminist or a Socialist to accept these terms long term.

what are the results? a 2 Trillion dollar deficit with 37 Trillion in debt!

The stupidity of doing the same things over and over ranks up there with Biden administration telling Ukraine "sure, you can be a member of NATO"

I've never seen so much ignorance and shortsightedness in one post. Congratulations.

If you thought there'd be no pain associated with a trade war, that's on you, hombre. By the way you're pre-melting before anything has actually happened.

Our public spending deficit/debt is not directly related to our trade policy/deficit

Lets celebrate Trump rolling out one of the largest tax increases in history, Tax Bros.

We're gonna be wealthy!

For real, the stock market can go to hell. It doesnt represent the economy in terms of the QOL of the everyday citizen.

I think you’re confusing trade deficit with national debt.
