LINK ]San Francisco Safeway stores install security gates at self-checkout kiosks in a bid to thwart thieves as city crime rates soar forcing many retailers to shutter
Shoppers using the self-service lines at a number of Safeway stores in the Bay area now need to scan their receipts on an automated plastic gate before they can leave the store
Employees at a Target store in San Francisco recently said it was being robbed as frequently as every ten minutes
Yet Newsom will be hailed as the savior. How?

the closure map mirrors the poop-on-the-street map.
correlations are a thing.

I know the weather is great and all and I live in Mississippi but good god what a hellscape.
To pay all those taxes and insane housing prices for matchboxes all to have your car repeatedly broken into as you have to jump over human shite in the street to get to a grocery store where the deodorant and tooth paste are locked away and you have to summon someone to unlock it
It just can’t be worth it. I refuse to believe it

If Silicon Valley were a country, it would be among the richest on Earth With $128,308 per capita in annual gross domestic product, Silicon Valley residents out-produce almost every nation on the planet
quote:
Depending on how one counts it, Qatar’s per-capita GDP, estimated by the World Bank at $128,647 in 2017, is the world’s highest. The per-person output from Silicon Valley – more precisely, the San Jose metro area – actually outpaces Qatar’s by some measures, and puts the valley squarely in the company of such wealthy territories China’s casino peninsula Macau, estimated per-capita GDP $115,367, and Europe’s sumptuously medieval Luxembourg, estimated per-capita GDP $107,641. Home to nearly 2 million, the San Jose metro area includes Stanford University in Palo Alto, Google’s headquarters in Mountain View and Apple HQ in Cupertino. Half the world’s tech billionaires live in Silicon Valley; a sizable portion of the remainder live just north in the San Francisco Bay Area. San Francisco, Oakland and their suburbs comprise America’s third most productive metro area by GDP, generating $89,978 per capita, a number that puts it in the company of Singapore and Brunei.
SF’s Economy Grew More Than Any Big U.S. County
quote:
From 2020 to the end of last year, San Francisco saw an increase of 14% to its real GDP, which is a measure of the total value of goods and services produced in a specific region, adjusted for inflation. Between those two years the county saw its GDP increase from $175.9 billion to $200.5 billion That was the largest upswing measured by the Bureau of Economic Analysis among counties with populations greater than 500,000.
Newsom is big techs boy.
You think tech is burying info now to help the dems?
Just think if it’s a democrat they actually LIKE

My favorite closure:
When you run that city and ultimately the entire country like a banana republic, you get the banana republic closed for business.

Those crime stats are waaaaayyyy off. Few people bother reporting the lesser crimes because nothing will be done, it is literally a waste of time.

newsom is not the mayor of silicon valley, he is the governor of california......and california has a lot of problems. a lot of problems.
Him taking credit for silicon valley is nonsense. Heck he hampered them with the taxes/housing/crime etc. He should have ended up with a huge portion of the "CHIPS" bill that was passed, instead Pelosi drags her son to Taiwan to cut off a piece of the fat she passed. Just shameful, shameful how these people operate.

Looks like SF is reducing crime by reducing population.

and they still want outrageous prices for real estate

I'm all for businesses protecting themselves from the ANIMALS who loot and rob them, but I gotta believe that's a fire hazard to not allow you to exit without scanning a valid receipt.

The nice thing about a Democrat in the White House is that none of this terrible news is a big deal.

And yet sometimes they do.

what sort of shop lifter goes through the self serve (or any) checkout lines?

The big story here is that all of those places have huge income disparities, something the libs claim to be against.

It’s pretty clear why DeSantis doesn’t fear Newsom. He’s got no issue putting quality of life in FL vs CA front and center in the national discussion.
Only a partisan leftist would choose CA over FL at this point in time.
Only took 30 years, but Democrats have destroyed CA.

I always find it ironic that Baltimore decades ago was a thriving city....whose mayor was Pelosi's father. At what point do they realize the policies have ruined what was built before they arrived.
