I skimmed but didn't see it, is their an obituary that's been posted? I wanted to read more about him and what happened to him.

I have not seen an obituary or been informed on what happened. He was not survived by any immediate family.

Someone in the SoCal Alumni association may be privy to some information; they were the ones that informed members of his death.

I will post info when it becomes available.

I have referred several of his friends to this thread so they can see how much Charles touched the lives of those who didn't know him. He is greatly missed by all those who loved him.

Thanks NoHo. I JUST went to a memorial service for another friend who died (at 44) and we don't know why he died either.

I suppose it doesn't matter, but I hope he didn't suffer and was at peace when he passed.

Sad to hear. Grew up in Shreveport with "Chuck" as we called him back in the day. Same age, so I went thru every level of school with him, beginning with Summer Grove Elementary, Walnut Hill Junior High, Southwood High School and then LSU. Even roomed with him and a couple of BSU friends at the Highland Apts back in '83-'84. Chuck/Charley was ALWAYS the life of the party, whether it was at a get-together after a football game, or at a Baptist Student Union function.

He'll definitely be missed.

Charley is survived by his partner of many years, his older sister, his brother Tino, three nieces, a grand-nephew and assorted cousins and aunts. The coroner's office has not finished its report, so no official cause of his death has been released. Donations in his memory can be made to the Charles A Jeffery Scholarship fund of the LSU Southern California Alumni Association. He would have been touched by the outpouring of kind thoughts.

Looking at the So Cal AA website, I don't see a mention of a scholarship fund in Charley's memory. Is this official yet or am I just overlooking the info?

I am definitely going to send a check. Could you please just post the address where I should mail it and also specify exactly how the payee should be written. Thank you.

I won't post the address because all correspondence goes to our board members homes. Send me an email to noho.tiger@yahoo.com and I'll give you the details.
