frick Saban. It needs to read the room and understand the state he lives and works in is overwhelming opposed to this legislation. Hell most of the country is opposed to it. He needs to read the bill and get educated on the facts.

I’m very disappointed in Saban, though I doubt he very seriously understands the issue.

Saban is a calculated as any coach there ever has been. He isn't going to tag his name to this just on a whim without knowing the issue well. He knows what that bill is just like the rest of us. He also knows it benefits his party so that is why he is pushing for it.

I would simply publicly shoot back the request to show me one American who has been denied the ability to vote.

Ask him why he thinks his players are too stupid to get a photo id.

Thought experiment: if Saban ran for US Senate as a Democrat in Alabama, could he win?

Nope

It's one thing to support a voting "rights" bill.

It's another to blow up Senate rules for it.

Why can't the left understand this? If they believe in this so much, run on it this fall and convince enough people to get 60 Senators.

100 percent he thinks this will improve his street cred with players and recruits.

Nothing to do with party.

Good idea Saban. Let's grow government by having about a dozen NCAA agents checking the registration on the cars driven by Alabama football players, looking into their housing, looking into their families income tax returns - looking in their closet for T-Town Menswear suits.

Would be interesting if some of the boosters that pay his salary decide that is not a good way to spend their money.

Why aren't conservatives telling their Senators to simply negotiate and move the bill from the left to the center?

Because the bill is shite. Its not a problem to vote in this country. Its not a matter of voter access its a matter of preventing cheating which is what the Democrats don't like.

Not as a Democrat. He'd have to run as a Republican because Alabama has straight party voting in general elections.

So simply negotiate language for election security. It's not that hard?

Why do you think there is a need to federalize elections? Why do Democrats come in and feel the need to federalize election laws?

He could probably win as a Democrat...Doug Jones won albeit it was a referendum on his opponent as much as anything else.

Nick has always been a Democrat. I was hoping he had mellowed out in his older years and saw the light but it looks like he's followed the party and gone hardcore.

Does anyone believe his story about turning down dinner with President Bush in the summer of 2006 because he was "busy with football"? In the middle of the summer in 2006 when there's no football... Nick probably turned it down based on political ideology.

Elections are already "federalized" they're just not operated on a federal level, and never will be. Stop getting your information from propoganda artists.

States have had to abide by federal laws for decades now.
