Ag exports were $9.2 billion and imports were $7 billion. The largest import was corn, made necessary by a drought that tanked SA corn production that year. SA is normally a net exporter of corn, meaning that the ag trade surplus (adjusted for the drought) would have been about $3 billion.

Part of me says grant safe passage to those asking for asylum and then leave those who accept these idiots as their leaders to their own devices.
But here’s another angle I admit I haven’t considered. Can you guarantee once SA turns into a TOTAL cesspool it won’t also turn into a yet another African breeding ground for terrorism? I can’t either. Just something to think about.
It’s a mess. A mess that surely will grow into a much larger mess- that throwing money at isn’t going to solve. But I certainly don’t have all the answers.
