Nice. I don't remember which SFOR we were but we deployed in March 1999 with the 3rd BCT from 1st CAV. I was a tanker in 1-12 CAV but assigned to an infantry BN, 1-5 CAV. 1-5 was at Dobol and 1-12 was at McGovern.

Sounds right. My AOR was Zvornik right on the Drina River. Was there when Kosova happened. We were on the Serbian border and it was wild.

It is usually also on the top side of the vehicle so that "friendly" aircraft can see it and don't do a strafing run on them.
