Russia pummeled Kyiv with missiles overnight, killing at least 15 people and wounding about 40 others, Ukrainian officials said on Thursday. The barrage was the latest deadly assault on the capital and again exposed Ukraine’s increasingly depleted air defenses.

In a sign that the Russian military is growing more confident of penetrating Ukrainian defenses, it did not deploy an opening barrage of long-range drones — a tactic that, until recently, was used to overwhelm interceptors and clear a path for missiles. This time, Russian forces hit Kyiv with a salvo of ballistic missiles at the outset.

quote:

Worried that the gaps in aerial defenses have left them increasingly exposed, many Kyiv residents now spend several nights a week sheltering underground in subway stations and parking lots. Nearly 40,000 residents stayed in the capital’s subway stations overnight, according to the local authorities on Thursday.

quote:

In his statement on Thursday, Mr. Zelensky again sounded the alarm about Ukraine’s weakened air defenses. He urged allies to provide more military assistance, especially U.S.-made Patriot interceptors, which remain the country’s most reliable defense against ballistic missiles.

The strain on air defenses has become such that the Ukrainian Air Force announced last week that it would stop disclosing the numbers of ballistic missiles fired by Russia and shot down in each attack, saying that poor interception rates were generating negative headlines that risked scaring people.

Well the EU, in their unwavering and loud vocal support of Ukraine, needs to get off their asses and provide more.

Definitely not a good situation, but after seeing UKR forces drone injured Russian soldiers when they had every opportunity to just capture them instead, it's hard to feel much sympathy.

I do like the former defense minister however. Hopefully he stages a coup and gets Z out.

Exactly. And most of it is how the US needs to be writing more checks.

Zalinski shouldn't have come over here, shot off his mouth, and get kicked out of the WH, too.

I haven't noticed any of that. Can you send me a link? Or some quotes?

The last discussion on there about money that I can remember was celebrating the fact that Trump had sent Ukraine $220 million so far this year and the EU has sent them $90 billion.

So it seems like Trump's policy has worked by shifting the financial burden to the EU and away from US taxpayers.

But you are obviously aware of a different sentiment. I would love to hear more about this

Hope this helps.

I dont care at all

in fact I do not like either country at all. Russia is a commie shithole, ukraine is a corruption filled shithole.

and honestly in terms of America first, its much better for us as a country to have them keep fighting indefinitely.

I mean one of, if not our biggest enemy, has been stuck in a prolonged war where they have lost over 50% of their conventional military, a war that has allowed us to test weapons against their systems, has allowed us to get rid of old stock piles of weapons that would have had to be destroyed got to be tested against Russias best stuff......its a win for the US if they stay fighting

I do not care either way. I do not understand why so many care so much either way. I would love to see russia get beat but at the same time, I hope Z is killed as is Putin....is that wrong of me to feel that away?

There was a NATO vote to give a quarter of a percent of the budget for the defense of Ukraine and it did not pass. Seems all of Europe knows it will just be stolen just like US money was.

Nice to see he is standing on dead bodies of his citizens to plead for more money to steal though, very admirable.
