The thing about Todd Herman and Ken Matthews is they are a regional radio host.

They can't pull off a national show.

I thought Laura Ingraham had a pretty good radio show.

I want someone that won't just say "dems are bad, repubs are good."
I want someone that will expose dems and deep state repubs for they're corruption.

Talking on the radio for three hours while keeping an audience interested and entertained would be difficult. I doubt we ever see anyone as good at it as Rush.

factor out the commercials and news blips the show is about 2 hours. I think they should offer the show to Brian Kilmeade.

They should just give Hannity another couple or three hours to talk about his MMA and marksmanship training.

Levin is too niche. He doesn't translate outside of the die hards.

Rush really was a one-man band. You can't really replace a one-man band... it becomes a whole new band.

I don't think anyone can replace Rush, as in, there is a new man at the top of the EIB Network.

I think what will happen, what needs to happen, is the show will end, the affiliates will get their 3 hours back, and then they can sign whomever they want in that time slot. Maybe over time, someone builds up a new show that reaches Rush's level, but I doubt it.

Steyn has been my favorite Rush substitute for years.

I like Steyn, some of his humor will be unappreciated by some of the hardcore Rush fans but I like his wit and sense of humor.

Rush made about 30M a year. Steyn wants it.

Rush made around $85 million per year for the last decade or more. His brother David was his agent, and is also a agent for Hannity, Mark Levin, and a couple of others. He is pulling in around $30 million per year.

I think the rotating host format they ha during his absence has worked well. It gave the show a little bit different perspective each day.

I don't think any one of those guys would make a good permanent replacement.

Continue the rotating format but reduce the legacy format sooner rather than later so we can get back to important current events.

I know it kept going up as he re-negotiated but I have serious doubts about 85M. Judge Judy was listed as the highest paid TV personality in history at 60M and TV pays more due to ads.

Mark Styne - good for two segments. Funny and sarcastic. Can’t carry a three hour show. Speech pattern is bothersome.

I posted about this in another thread since Rush's passing.

Steyn can absolutely carry a 3 hour show. He's filled in for Rush plenty long before his death.

He's also really the only one of any potential candidates (at least as I recall) that can even remotely mix the conservative intellect with humor/sarcasm well enough to replace Rush.

His biggest challenge is the voice, but I think if given the opportunity most folks would get past that.

“Rush Limbaugh, conservative talk show host and author, died February 17, 2021, at the age of 70 after a year-long battle with lung cancer. At the time of his death, Limbaugh’s net worth was $600 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. With an $85 million annual salary at the time of his death, Rush Limbaugh reached number 11 on Forbes’ list of celebrity earnings in 2020

Thanks for the info but something doesn't seem right.
If he was earning in the 30M to 40M range for at least 20 years and ended with 85M salary he should have a net worth of 2 or 3 billion instead of 600M.

He spent a lot of money, his second Gulfstream jet cost $55 million, house was $45 million plus several million a year each in operating cost, Rush once talked about replacing a small cockpit window on the jet costing $75 grand. He paid salary’s for a lot of staff at his office and his home, flight crew for his plane, he had two chiefs on his payroll. He lived large and enjoyed his money.

I bet Bo Snerdley, if he chose to, wouldn't have to work another day in his life, either. Rush took care of his employees. And his wasn't a 2-person operation.

Even though Rush had 3 ex-wives none of them has ever written a “tell-all “ book, given a interview, or even made a public comment about Rush, buying their silence probably cost him good not every year.

This replay show format is terrible tbh and I’d rather even hear a middling talent host a live show instead

Dude. WTF? I only get bits and pieces through the day but we are hearing the BEST of Rush and good commentary in between.

Hell, I heard the replay of the dude from Mountain High New Mexico today that I hadn't heard in many years.

Who you got to fill his shoes? We have over 30 years of Conservative Brilliance to remember. You ready to throw him away and forget that his "talent on loan from God" is over? Let's forget the Founding Father's while we are at it since they are dead too.

Ultimately I think this is what will happen but I am assuming there are some legal contracts that will have to expire first. Once that happens stations can refuse to renew those contracts and be free to replace the show with something else.

I agree right now the show is awful. It can't decide if it wants to be a Limbaugh tribute show or a current events show so it flip flops back and forth while not having any general direction at all.

The difference between Rush Limbaugh and Johnny Carson is that Rush was host of The Rush Limbaugh Show while Carson hosted The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. When Carson left it was possible to replace him without having to rename the whole show. You can do The Tonight Show with anyone. You can only do The Rush Limbaugh Show with Rush Limbaugh.
