Ruminations on Covid Vaccine

1. I’ll probably get the vaccine. I get the flu shot every year. I see no difference btwn the Covid Vaccine and the Flu shot. The J&J injects you with live virus (like a flu shot) and the other ones just inject you with the non infectious part of the virus so either way your own body knows what to do. I see no reason not to get it and it doesn’t freak me out.
2. I don’t fricking understand why you cannot make an appointment with your doctor like a civilized person and go to get it. I would pay the copay to have a place to sit while I wait, and to know what time I’m getting the shot so I can plan my life.
3. Currently, in Louisiana (not sure about other places) if you’re under 65 - you have to have some kind of “preexisting” problem to get it (in some cases just being fat, or being a smoker is enough to qualify). I’m not fat or a smoker and I’m under 65. Nonetheless one of my friends keeps insisting I should try to get it.
I signed up at BR General Mid City yesterday. I was informed by the lady who took my appointment (alleged) that there weren’t many ppl so I should be in and out. She told me that I bc I have Hashimotos disease (which is a ridiculously common thyroid problem) that is an autoimmune condition that I qualified. I had no interest in taking a vaccine from some old person who was panicked and wanted it - but I relented. I figured - i have Nothing going on- I’ll just get the stupid shot.
4. When I arrived I had to fill out a form. It did not say autoimmune condition- it said immunocompromised like if you were undergoing chemotherapy or had AIDS. I felt very uncomfortable and left my underlying condition blank.
5. Worse, I got there 10 minutes before my scheduled “appointment” and there were at least 20 people ahead of me and no fricking where to sit. In a hospital waiting area. It was cold in there. I was informed it “wouldn’t be long” and they were taking ppl in batches of 10. I waited 45 minutes, all the while nobody called any batch of 10, yet more people kept coming.
Finally at my 50 minute mark they called 10 ppl. I was 20 ppl down on the list. I left. The lady said There was only one set of ppl left before my group. I informed her that I can count. It was 45 minutes at least for them to do one set of 10. Then there was a second round of 10’people that just went in. And I was behind the 3rd round of 10 ppl. So thus, it would be 90 minutes before I got this stupid shot for a virus if I got that I would survive.
I made them take me off the list and I left.
6. This entire experience- them allowing me to get “free” medical care (and they ask you for your insurance card which is even stupider) based on a just say you have a condition so you can hurry up and wait in line standard; combined with a cattle call, a long line and no fricking where to sit - have made me ever more convinced that socialized medicine would wreck our healthcare system.
I would never go to a free fricking doctor because there is nothing I loathe more than standing in a line. “Free” Healtcare would result in me Paying exorbitant taxes to subsidize the doctor that I will ultimately pay Xtra to to avoid the line.
7. When I can get the shot from my own doctor at a scheduled time, I will get it.
The End.

Most Dr.s don't have a -40° deep freezer and not enough patient volume to justify a ref. truck.

When you look at the past decades data, 2017-18 flu season had 81k deaths...the highest of the decade. We have been running the flu vaccine program for about 40 years. The number of deaths from flu in the elderly population per capita hasn’t changed in all that time. If you look at the CDCs data the average efficacy of the vaccine runs around 30% on average. That’s the government’s numbers. You think they’re painting an accurate picture? Sun shining it up maybe? Probable closer to 15% if that.

J&J is not a live vaccine.

I basically have to get it because foreign travel is my raison d'être. Except for travel to France because they use snooty French terms . Arrogant bastards.

How am I doin?
Currently living on the edge with no Covid vaccine- although I may have contracted Covid in the waiting room at BRGMC Mid City and I’m lucky that I didn’t catch a bullet on the way out.
I understand why people don’t want to get the shot- but my only fear surrounding the vaccine is the government insisting that I have it, and passively aggressively mandating it by saying, if you don’t get it- you can’t get on an airplane. So I’ll have to show a Covid ID to go anywhere, except to vote.

Bingo
I've learned to do the opposite of whatever the dims/msm say.

The vaccine is open to anyone.. the requirement list is a simple barrier to spread out the available shots and doesn’t require any documentation other than a personal guarantee. I went through the Lake and was given my first dose at the Pennington compound and it was quick and efficient.. lastly. You aren’t taking the vaccine from anyone. The most vulnerable have been eligible for a while and if they haven’t gotten it then it’s on them .

That’s not really what I was going for.

This doesn’t make any sense.
Why don’t they just say. Come and get it. I have to say I have some chronic disease on a form that goes into my medical records resulting in Heaven knows what consequences?
This whole thing is so stupid.

They want order in the supply chain..

While I would take slight exception to how you compare the vaccine to the flu shot and how the vaccine works, I don't disagree with what you are saying.
The issue simply is how Woke is your state or your area.
Texas is running vaccinations fairly smoothly and quickly.
Woke states didn't know what to do and have trotted out very poor methods to vaccinate people. Plus they were waiting for the government to come in and do the vaccinations because people who "run" these states don't want to do anything.
Everyone I know getting the vaccine here is in and out.
