You could extend this logic to anyone in a high place. "Weinstein was competing for Oscars with many other Hollywood execs so why are dimes dropping now?!"

Not really similar at all. With Weensteen everyone around him knew it, this is one 4 decade old claim out of the blue.

While Moore is a bible thumping idiot, this story stinks to high heaven.

If you are saying it is based on political slant, then we should also call out the left posters on here that ignore the Hollywood threads or post whataboutisms to deflect.

I 100% endorse calling out the people who will go "OMG DISGUSTING!" while ignoring that Roman Polanski raped a girl of the same age

The only direct evidence we have consists of the accounts of these women.

Where is the evidence to back up their claim? I ask because (1) I've yet to see anything to indicate they are telling the truth and (2) the source of the story and the timing of the story all heavily point to this being a blatant attempt at a political take down.

I was a little skeptical at first but this might actually have legs.

If this had legs it would have been used by Mitch so his boy Luther could be sitting in Roy's spot. Yesterday Moore said he wouldn't debate Doug Jones and now BAM! Roy is a creeper with 4 witnesses that have held on to this for 40 years.

How long have the rumors of these things been coming out of Hollywood? How long have they been out about Moore? I don't think it's so much when it happened as much as when the accusations are brought forth. If she would have made this claim in '79 even into the 80's it would seem like more of a possibility. Now, not so much.

Could it have happened? Absolutely. But forgive me if I'm skeptical. This guy has been a well known fixture in Alabama politics for a while and much of that time was spent as a lighting rod for controversy. I'm sure he's made MANY political enemies over the last 40 years.

With that being said, this story, an event that allegedly took place in 1979, just happens to come out just weeks away from the election for the US Senate. It "coincidentally" comes at a time it seems like every woman (at least that's the perception) is falling all over themselves to make claims of being sexually assaulted decades ago

If this was a newcomer to politics who had relatively no history in the public eye I would be more inclined to believe it. But while I don't think Moore is the bastion of Christianity he proclaims to be, the timing of these accusations, from 40 years ago, is a bit suspect.

Oh, fricking great. Let's put the man who slow-walked an investigation so he could be a Senator for a few months.

Is this where we pretend we always ask for evidence to back up testimonial evidence in similar situations? Because we don't. I'm sure you haven't for Hollywood and I haven't either.

These allegations are inherently suspect, IMO. But that doesn't mean they're not true. I'm way more passionate about bashing people who refuse to hold the people they support accountable (by even asking the question) than I am in seeing the people they support go down in scandals, honestly.

Count me in the "I really don't want the Democrats smear campaign to work but I really don't want roy Moore in legislation" camp

Amazing how Alabama politicians keep putting me in these dichotomys

Pettifogger, if the 4 people are all disconnected from each other, WHY would they all come at the same time to tell their story? That is fishy. This guy did this 30+ years go, and they all come in november of 2017 to tell their story.

This is straight out of the Dem Playbook. Didn't they try this with Trump, too?
This information has been out there all these years and they're just now bringing it to light?

C'mon man! Only an idiot couldnt see through this.
