It may be seen that way but it really hasn't addressed political issues, just the impact the current divide has on families. (But I've only seen the first two episodes, TBH.)

I'll forego the easy "Crips and Bloods" punch line, but this one is probably the most surprising to me (after Grey's Anatomy).
