Observation from a DeSantis supporter: The issue with the criticism is that no matter who the leading GOP candidate is, the SWAMP & media will come after that candidate every time. If DeSantis was #1 right now, the SWAMP would invent fiction on him too and they will if he is the nominee. Media is already trying to paint DeSantis as stiff, cold hearted, dominated by his wife, Disney saboteur, made by Trump, etc. If they don't have dirt, they will invent dirt out of nothing. Dirt is just harder to believe about DeSantis because he has exceptionally sterling character traits/ strait shooter/ eagle scout type of character.
Go back to John McCain's presidential run vs. Obama, he thought the media would give him a break because he gave them access, plus he stabbed GWB & conservatives in the back frequently. However, the media sawed his legs off every chance they got.
