The whole thing was a shitshow. It was like a rap concert with so many people on the stage all screaming over each other.

Low-class idiots having nothing more than his suit to complain about is a good thing.

I’ll continue to say this….I don’t care if a candidate has the personality of a dead fish, if he has a conservative track record, can get along with others while building coalitions and can hire trustworthy, quality people to go around him, I’m voting for him.

Kind of throws a whole wrench in the, he’s the only guy that can beat the dems narrative.

I blame Ron's handlers. He should have owned in that forum, especially against that group of slapnuts.

Tom Ford. But a brand doesn't matter. A Walmart suit will look nice if it's tailored correctly.

His suit was the least of my complaints. Promising to invade another country on day one was infinitely more irresponsible.

What drives this particular POV? I frequently see "handlers" when discussing RD; is it just a poorly disguised attempt to insult him?

It’s part of the narrative that he was talked into running. That he’s not his own man. He is being handled.

ron held serve last night. yeah he's not the most polished guy, but he is ruthless and effective at governing. i expect him to improve at the next debate.

and he didn't really sustain any damage from other candidates. i assumed christie was gonna try to murder-suicide him.

I get the picture they're trying to paint, I'm just wondering if there's anything substantive behind it. Not that there has to be from that crowd, but I was curious.

Not at all. Ron is great behind a podium - always has been. He should have folded people like Pence and Haley up like a lawn chair. Why is he suddenly awkward and hesitant? The only thing I can see is his campaign team is overthinking this and not letting Ron be Ron.

Been telling you guys for months he's just an empty suit puppet.

He hasn’t been in FL, he’s just listening to the wrong people right now and trying to be something he’s not.

Had he run as FL governor Ron DeSantis this would be a very different race.

He changed message and delivery from running for governor to running for president. He was never this awkward as governor.

No one can prove anything but it’s the same kind of awkwardness that I saw from GOP front runner JEB! In 2016 and I have to wonder if he didn’t make a deal to the GOPe run his messaging in return for their support.

Behind a podium and a debate are two very different things. He's always been great at handling media attacks, and I honestly don't remember if he debated Crist or the queer, but several competent (at debating) candidates on stage is a different animal. Equally possible to your theory is that they told him to zig and he zagged.

I just see the word a lot and I only see it applied to him. He doesn't strike me as someone steered around by his subordinates, nor would his background suggest that.
