Sens. Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Joni Ernst (R-IA) split from members of their party Tuesday and requested more information on E. Jean Carroll’s claim that Donald Trump raped her 23 years ago.

While many of his Republican colleagues have remained silent on the issue, or come out in support of the president, Romney claimed the accusation placed by Jean Carroll, who previously said “most people think of rape as being sexy,” is a “serious” allegation, according to CNN.

“It’s a very serious allegation,” Romney said. “I hope that it is fully evaluated. The President said it didn’t happen and I certainly hope that’s the case.”

Ernst said that Carroll should be interviewed and that “additional information” is needed.

“I think anybody that makes an accusation like that, they should come forward,” Ernst told CNN. “But obviously there has to be some additional information. They need to interview her. They need to visit with him.”

Sen. John Thune (R-SD) referred to Jean Carroll’s allegation against the president as “unacceptable, deplorable behavior.” Thune also said because “the President is denying them, I can’t comment on, them because I don’t know what the truth is.”

On Monday, during an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Jean Carrol drew criticism after she claimed that “most people think of rape as being sexy – think of the fantasies.”

This, but will NEVER do it again.

Ms. Carroll exposed herself as such a fraud on Anderson Cooper's show that even he had to cut her off.

Neocons are not limited to Boomers. Does the name Ben Shapiro ring a bell?

I am so thankful he lost his presidential bid. Although, I hated Obama, he was still a better President t than what Romney would have been.

Shame on Orin Hatch for supporting him as his replacement.

Stuff like this is retarded.

It is NOT POSSIBLE to "fully evaluate" a decades old story with no actual evidence.

That's just reality. It's not a statement regarding validity of the story or not. It's just absurd to claim one can "fully evaluate" it.

That's not even just about rape. ANY accusation of ANY crime that occurred that comes with nothing other than the accusation is impossible to "fully evaluate". Frankly, it's only sex crime cases that we even pretend that it can be done.

Can you imagine if Blasey Ford had accused Trump of robbing "some store, on a non-determined date in a non certain year 30+ years ago"? He's say, "no I didn't and frankly, that would be that.

By "fully evaluated" Mittens means to drag this out like the Kavanaugh hearings in hopes of defeating Trump in 2020.
