I cannot believe I am about to say this bc I provided legal counsel on the Benedict Cassidy Billboard, and I think he’s weird AF . . . But here goes.

I’d rather see Cassidy as Governor and Landry as Senator than Landry as Governor and Cassidy as Senator. CLEARLY this Mann Theory was what That Weird fricker was thinking when he “stood on principle” and voted to remove Trump for no reason.

The Democrat party is poison. JBE sucks- but the corrupt, incompetent democrats that were the Blanco Administration running this joint currently are fricking worse. At least we maybe could get some sensible, somewhat right leaning people running state government. Kind of like Holden did for Baton Rouge.

There’s not a Democrat in Louisiana that could get a Republican to vote for him after Republicans for JBE. God only knows who those communist morons will put up. And we can’t risk the likes of Latoya and Sharon Weston Broome or that Soros Plant that’s wrecked Shreveport in there. Louisiana may fall into the Gulf of Mexico if that happens and we’d be overrun by uncontrolled and uncontrollable gang violence. The whole fricking state would be New Orleans. Even Lafayette- which is the only sane metropolitan area (if you can call it that) we have left.

OTOH - there are Democrats and Independents who would vote for Cassidy based sheerly on Trump Hatred.

I’d rather see us stuck with weirdo fricking Cassidy, and have Landry and Kennedy on on deck if Trump helps swing Congress to vote yes on removing Joe and The Ho.

I swear to fricking goodness If the deliberate removal of Monoclonal Antibodies (the only TREATMENT for Covid with PEER REVIEWED EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SUPPORT) were withheld by the Federal Government so Big Pharma could make federal billions off of pre-treatment injections - AND Biden could buy another beach house based on lobbying dollars paid by Pfizer and China - well - removal and firing squad would be fine with me.

That's an interesting thought. I can't really see JBE wanting to go to Washington after 8 years as Gov, but who knows I guess.

Cassidy is a good example why the 17th Amendment needs to be re-amended. Senators were supposed to represent the states and serve at the pleasure of state legislatures.

State legislatures should appoint senators with the only popular vote being in the case of deadlock.

He’s totally going to try to be Senator. And any respect I had for JBE (I actually know him and voted for him round 1) has evaporated with the utterly imbecilic way he has managed Covid. No room for compromise. No consideration of other viewpoints. And utter failure to recognize that none of the shite he did - solved the problem. Dude is bright and good communicator- but insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. That school vaccination stuff is idiotic and there’s no way if I had a son I would inject something in his body that had a greater chance of giving him a heart attack on at football practice than allowing him to avoid sickness from a virus that wouldn’t kill him anyway. That was the last straw for me. I’d homeschool my 15 yr old nephew myself if that fricker tries to inject him.

JBE v Landry over Cassidy’s seat with JBE backing Cassidy for Gov would be the most fricked up and perfect metaphor for Louisiana politics ever.

Because it was just fine until the 17th Amendment.

No one outside the State should have any say in who that State sends to the Senate

Not necessarily.....if it gets down to a runoff between Cassidy and Landry I'd bet my bottom dollar that Landry loses that election.

Unless....the state GOP throws all of its weight behind Landry and completely disowns Cassidy. I don't think they have even part of the balls to do that.

A lot of people did this....almost all of them regret it now unless they were on the payroll.

That wouldn't be a smart move for Cassidy to take that endorsement. He will still need some R support to get into a runoff. Now if JBE endorses after the jungle primary then that's a different story.

Cassidy’s infrastructure bill is where it’s at. And not a single other member of our Republican delegation voted for it.

If Cassidy ran and somehow made it to the runoff against another Republican that would be an easy choice.

It would definitely be entertaining if nothing else. JBE and Landry hate each other so that would produce crazy fireworks.

By "his" infrastructure bill you mean the one written by Biden, Pelosi, and Schumer that he was paid to endorse....that infrastructure bill????

It's a tax and spend bill that he got paid to endorse with that "project funding".

It's no better for Louisiana that it is for the rest of the country. Louisiana has plenty of money to do infrastructure projects with via one of the highest gasoline taxes in the country.....they just choose to do stupid stuff with it and not fix infrastructure.

You just keep on believing what the Ds in Washington and Baton Rouge tell you though....ignorance is bliss.

No it will not.

The impeachment vote is actually why he has no chance winning another election in Louisiana beyond the expiration of his current term in 2027.

Like it or not, the Trumpers are an extremely territorial and vengeful bunch and will go scorched Earth on him. He’s juduas and Brutus to them after he crossed a red line that he can’t walk back. All options are on the table including staying home and letting the democrat win.

On that basis, Cassidy is a non starter as he would catastrophically damage the GOP’s standing in a gubernatorial contest against, regardless of the quality of the democrat opponent. You don’t have to be a huge Trumpkin to know Cassidy for Governor in 2023 is a horrendously bad idea.

The best thing Cassidy can do for himself and Louisiana voters is keep his mouth shut, not run for reelection, quietly finish his last Senate term and then go make his millions on K street in 2027 for a sweet retirement.

The Louisiana GOP is packed with RINO morons. They shoved that weird bastard down our throats when he ran for senate against Landrieu.

I think the odds of those dipshits backing Cassidy are greater than Landry. Landry pisses off RINOs. I could see the LaGOP choosing Cassidy. A good way for them to try to show Trump who is boss.

I’d rather see Cassidy announce for Governor, maybe so he can even lose and we can slay that fricking dragon, and have someone run for his senate seat. At the end of the day, I’d still rather a RINO than a Democrat, especially on the state level.

If Cassidy ended up in the runoff against another Republican, whether Landry or not, JBE would be endorse him.

Maybe you don’t get it. He got major mileage with elected officials from all over the state with that. Both parties. They will remember.
