Never forget what the Left did to the RE Lee statues. When they decided to remove them during the the Summer of Love. They said they would put in them in storage or museums.

Instead they melted the Charlottesville statue and turned into mockery. The Richmond statue was BLM graffitied, chopped into pieces and still in a warehouse.

Robert E Lee was one of the finest men this nation has ever known. A true disgrace what the left has done to his legacy

His only "crime" was that he refused to take up arms against his fellow Virginians.

Read the words this man wrote in his notes and letters. Such a shame what we have allowed the left to get away with. Few, if any, finer men have ever lived in these United States than General Lee.

This. General Lee was a great man. He stood on values. His legacy has been tarnished by history.

General Lee was an inspiring and brilliant leader. Regardless of your position or opinions on the civil war, Lee was among the most significant and successful military leaders in American history.

There's actually a scene in the movie "Gettysburg" where General Lee (Martin Sheen) appeared at a Confederate camp and the actors portraying Confederate soldiers began cheering and chanting "General Lee" completely unscripted, and director Ron Maxwell found the unscripted, spontaneous moment to be so emotionally powerful that he incorporated it into the theatrical cut.

I know most here have seen the movie. But for some of our youngsters that may not have heard of or watched it, please do. Buy the shite on 4K Ultra and crank the sound and just sit back and watch it play out. One of the more historically accurate war movies you'll ever see, with an absolutely outstanding cast of American legends like the aforementioned Sheen as well as Sam Elliott, and arguably Jeff Daniels' and Tom Berenger's best screen performances of all time.

I'm biased because I love historical movies, but damn, it's really a good one.

So, yes Lee was a good General as was Stonewall Jackson. Their tactics are studied by military experts around the world.

Add Nathan Bedford Forrest to that list.

Lee was a fine general and did very well with the resources he had. Lee's biggest problem was that he only really fought his battles in VA/MD/PA.

But, he met his match in Grant who was quite a different general who dominated the Western theater then came East and slugged it out with Lee

His Memoirs should be required reading.

Negative, he didn’t “meet his match” with Grant lol He was outmanned, outgunned, and out supplied. If everything was equal the North would have lost quite handily. Lee wasn’t the greatest tactician though compared to some of his other generals.

He was the preferred choice for both jobs.

Union asked him first and he turned the offer down.

At that time, your state birth place meant more than the United States.

Grant had tons of material resources at that point. Lee was a far superior tactician.

This is like comparing Omar Bradley to George Patton.

Whenever someone talks about Lincoln and what a great leader, I am also reminded what a petty POS he was at times.

Arlington was Lee's home (or his wife's). Lincoln started burying soldiers on it knowing that Lee would never desecrate the graves, thereby losing his plantation.
