The billionaires they vilify
have businesses in their state. They pay payroll taxes and employ the same working class families they claim to be protecting.
When they leave, they take their business with them, leaving the working class unemployed.
The same working class will have their taxes raised to make up the difference when they lose the rich peoples’ revenue.

This is the tip of the iceberg. Once the billionaires leave, everyone else there will need to pick up the slack. There will be nothing left to cover the public pensions. California will go bankrupt.

Something, something Atlas, something, something Shrugged.

I remember when it was millionaires. They've printed so much money that it's now billionaires.

I posted a link on how CPAs talk of avoiding some of the bullshite they have enacted

I really don't see how taxing wealth would pass constitutional muster. It seems to me a grave invasion of privacy by the government.

They have floated the idea.
That would get slapped down with a quickness by the courts.

Exit tax to escape utopia.
How do you propose that could enforce this?

Yes, however Reagan also amnestied millions of illegals in California, turning a once-red state into its current perma-blue condition.

My question is why are Larry Page and Peter Thiel still there? Better late than never I guess.
My question is what’s the loophole that’s undermining new law? Thiel and Page aren’t retiring, and tech VC remains firmly centered in Silicon Valley.
Professional athletes pay California taxes for every game worked in a California venue regardless of their state of residence. I guarantee this new rule doesn’t address where deals are finalized….and Thiel and Page have enough sense to refrain from antagonizing legislators.

Yeah good luck enforcing that.

They used to tax non-residential Airline Pilots for a simple turnaround back out of California, and International Crew for transitioning California airspace.

It won’t just be Page and Thiel. It will stop future Googles and Nvidias from even starting in our state.
No it won’t.
Both Stanford and UC Berkeley is right in the bays back yard so there’s always going to be a big tech scene and startups (which both Google and nvidia once were).
It’s already one of the most expensive places in the US yet it’s still the tech hub with all the companies.
