Lawyer on timcast today said there is a provision in Wisconsin law for 16 and 17 year olds allowed to open carry shotguns and rifles. That might apply to cover charge 6. That the 18 year old thing is for hand guns.

I have to assume the reason for the overcharging and specific charges is that this is being used as a backdoor test case for the Supreme Court to ban firearms or at the very least the public carrying of firearms especially at “political protests” and that makes me extremely nervous.
Following this on appeal will be nerve wracking.

Risk of life in jail. This is sad and he did what he had to do but you have to understand the risks of walking around with a gun.
His freedom is now out of his control. It is dependent on others and this is never a good place to be.
All he needs is one 'not guilty' for a hung jury. Would rather an outright acquittal, but I doubt they'll be able to find 12 people to all vote guilty, no matter how many times they try him.

Only problem with this is the law states they are legally allowed to carry while hunting. They cannot just open carry in the streets. They cannot use a hunting defense here.

No, there is no federal law on possessing a long gun under 18. Thats Wisconsin law. Wiconsin has exceptions, target shooting, hunting and in the armed forces.

He lives with his single mom, a nurse's assistant, and apparently is not enrolled in any local school system. It seems he was bullied in his last school and filed a complaint about it.

It's very sad, these kids who get hooked into after school police groups and are taught that they can break the law with impunity.
Sadly, he's just a product of his envitonemnt...never cared for laws, driving without a license, he was raised to not respect the law, hence being illegally armed, which led to all his troubles...if he didn't choose to break that law, he'd be sleeping at home tonight...but you know how these people are.
Drop out of school, collect weapons, snowflake even had his mama file an order of protection at his school because he was called 'dumb'.
Poor kid. Maybe if he grew up in a better place with a better family he'd have had a chance.
