How big of a favorite could it have been since it's shutting down?

I can hear John Trapper yelling now... You kicked out WHO?

because there's nothing in the Bible saying Christians should refuse service to gay people for any reason, or that it was sinful to bake a gay wedding cake.
You really are having difficulty separating the difference of regular vs specialty business refusal. The bakers Christian convictions prevented him from using his specialty to create something special to directly promote gay "marriage". That's his right and no sin in that. For the record no one would fault a gay baker from rejecting a pro-traditional family cake or a Jewish baker from creating a neo-Nazi cake.
BTW - there's a difference in rejecting to serve people in her public access restaurant vs if she had rejected to cater a MAGA themed party Sanders was throwing.
Be as pro-gay as you want but that doesn't trump others Christian values/beliefs, no matter how much you want to think you understand how to be a "better" Christian than others, with your "you are suppose to accept all with unconditional love" garbage misunderstanding.

But now Phillips, owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakewood, Colorado, is facing a new court fight, this one involving a lawyer who asked him to bake a cake to celebrate the anniversary of her gender transition.
They knew his business, and are trying to bankrupt him.
That same lawyer has said he will keep at it until he wins too.

This still doesn't explain why I’m not intelligent enough to understand the difference.

The implication is Huckabee was entitled to dine at the Red Hen, but the baker is entitled to refuse service to anyone because of their "religious views". How do you explain the double standard? Is being gay worse than working for a despised President?
Let’s dig a little deeper. The Conservative is refused service and takes her business elsewhere. The filth is refused service and sues and works to close the business down and ruin the lives of the bakery owner.
See the difference?

This raises an interesting point because I'm sure someone who thinks this was "despicable" would have no problem with a bakery refusing to make a wedding cake for a gay couple.

A more intelligent analogy would be the restaurant declining to cater a Trump event. No one would have a problem with that decision. Just as with the baker, special commissioned work outside their normal services should be entirely at their discretion with no explanation needed. If the baker refused to sell a pre-made cake displayed for sale that would be analogous to what this idiot did in refusing to allow Huckabee-Sanders to order from the offered menu.

Lexington, Va. is quite a distance from D.C. in a pretty conservative area, not far from the West Virginia border.
I use to go there pretty often.
A high end restaurant owner there, who spouts liberal ideas just isn't very smart.
I don't know if it's still there, but there used to be a place that I always liked, called " The Pedal Car Diner"
They fixed the best pinto beans and buttermilk cornbread that I've ever had. Cooked full of onions and country ham.
They had a great collection of cool pedal cars too.

Simple. There is no double standard. The Colorado baker did not refuse service. He would have sold a standard wedding cake. What he refused to do was a custom design.

The wedding cake people were activists, knew what they were doing and were trying to get money through legal avenues.
Not to mention they have had a personal vendetta against that baker for years.

Another story is the way Huckabee handled the situation.
I can't imagine a lefty leaving without creating scene: yelling, crying, trashing the place, disturbing patrons, arguing with the owner, whaaaa, whaaaa, whaaaa.

If that's so in this case, it doesn't mean the restaurant lost business because they were mean to conservatives, or that there was a successful boycott. Their business actually increased after the Huckabee thing, and it's been years since that happened, and Trump hasn't been president for three years.
Oh, they got a boost for a while, from the libs at Va.Tech driving up I-81 from Blacksburg and down from Winchester.
Know what Happened though? Fuel prices nearly doubled under this administration, so those libs stopped making those drives, and the locals who could afford the place quit coming, due to unreconcilable differences.
Go woke, get broke.

Agreed. If things were going great, you keep that golden egg laying goose and launch your new concept elsewhere..
As if Ripert would shut down La Bernadine to try something new in the same location.

While still in the same location, there will be a new name, a new look, and a new vibe. Our commitment to quality and creating outstanding experiences will not change.
So if you’ve been a guest of ours, we hope you’ll think fondly of your evenings at 11 E. Washington St. and you’ll look forward to joining us in our next incarnation. If you haven’t had a chance to dine with us, there’s still a little time left.
Unless you’re a conservative or anyone else with a different view… no thanks!
