8 Terms in Congress.

4 Terms Senate.

If you jump from House to Senate or vice-versa, the combined years cannot equal more than 24 yrs total.

That's a fair deal. Gives people plenty of time, while also not allowing 30, 40, and 50 yr career politicians who end up in their 80s and 90s in office.

If you don't get your fill of Washington in 24 yrs, then that's your problem.

Well, amendments are the closest thing we have to direct legislation.

2 terms for senate and 4 terms for reps

That is 12 and 8 years respectively.

I disagree, 12 total years no matter how they split it up

It takes at least a session to get used to Congress a session or two to get used to Senate
if you have term limits for elected officials the people that actually are hired by the taxpayers

you've got to put a limit on bureaucrats otherwise you're just turning government completely over to the bureaucrats

A bad congressman can be voted out
a bad bureaucrat has a job for thirty years

Couple that with a repeal of the 17th.

i mean........what happen when you get a nick saban? do you want to fire him after 4 years? of course not. you want the man to coach forever.

So give them 12 years, hell give them 16 if that makes you feel better. After that period of time they need to find some other way to become multi-millionaires on the taxpayer dime. 12 years is plenty of time to do something useful for your constituents.

A better solution although it will never happen Is to change how they are paid, The time they spend in the capital and for reimbursement for only the hotel during the time they are there

I would also make it mandatory that any discussions with lobbyists must be public with three day advance notice as to the location for attendance by any citizen

Also they cannot do any lobby work for any obvious they have communication with

salary is not how they make their money

100 Senators
435 in the House

100s of 000s of bureaucrats

Very few people have a job with the same company for 10 years anymore you get 14 years of working for the US government that's it
unless you get dispensation
and that's only for the highest levels of security clearance scientific expertise

General staff can go get a job a State in another department if they're that good at pushing paper

Should be 3 terms for Senate, 6 terms for House, 3 for President.

If it takes a person that long to figure things out then we are electing the wrong ones. Not real hard to tell right from wrong and what is in the best interest of your district or state.

Waaaaaaay too much time. 12 years total, then you go back to your day job.

Also, all benefits end when your term ends.
