I still don't understand how it's reasonable to expect insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions.
You're basically asking them to be a coupon for your medical care.

It is insane that we expect health insurance to function any differently from other types of insurance. In the old days when I got my first job my dad instilled in me the importance of having no lapse in health coverage for the rest of my life (after I got off his plan).....simply because if you got a long term illness when you weren't covered you were financially screwed. I'm not sure why we can't change our culture back to that mindset....instead of the mindset of "oh hell now I need to go to the doctor I guess I better get insurance again"...it's dumb.
It's just like any other entitlement....we can't even talk about that with the lefties.

They should have done this from day 1.....individual people don't realize the tax benefits they would reap just based on the HSA pieces of Rand's plan alone.
I heard people in the town hall meetings a while back shitting on HSAs. These people are either stupid or were just paid to protest....probably both.

Isn't that kinda like buying a used car with significant body damage to it and then expecting your insurance company to fix it at their cost? Seems a little messed up to me.

say you tweak your knee really bad. it's likely sprained but the severity of the sprain is not known. let's also assume you have health insurance that meets the standards of the ACA and the deductible costs are no issue. would you rather be treated in the US or Canada?

Maybe you should look into how they do it.
England, for example, doesn't provide adequate care to elderly to save costs and be able to afford care for younger healthier people.

I'll tell you this. Canadiens living near the US border, even though they have to pay, often times come across the border for their health care.
