Change the law that grants the unconstitutional power to the POTUS of executive orders for state of emergencies. Do NOT vote to say he can't do that which he legally can do. This is the problem with this vote today. I hate the law, but it is on the books which means they are acting like babies right now

Is this not just a show vote? Their no vote cannot override the President’s veto.

Unless something changes or I’m unaware of the procedure, the Senate can’t stop a veto as it stands. So what is even negatively impacted by these 12 voting as they feel they should?

It is a mistake to make enemies out of everyone who disagree with you in all circumstances. A Senator who votes for your agenda 80% of the time is an ally, not an enemy. The modern GOP has never been an indeologically lockstep party. We are not Democrats.

Through the cowardice of the Congress to actually do anything of significance, both the executive and judicial branches have happily usurped Congress' intended powers.

Fear to act will often leave you on the outside watching others taking action.

And they are going to say it was on the principle of Congress should decide this.

Turns out even some Republicans don't like the precedent that it would set. You guys should go boycott a product or shoot a Yeti cooler

I know y’all hate it but a ton of Republicans going against this in a meaningless way gives the party cover for opposing one in the future. It’s not the worst idea to have a bunch of them show their disapproval. It doesn’t actually do anything because they can’t override the veto.

It's time for the Rand paul, Susan Collins and Marco Rubio cucks to eat crow.

Grow a sack and pick better candidates to get behind.

Yeah...bullshijt.

It's like being beaten up on the street by some thug and your friend just sits there because his "principles" are to be non aggressive.

These chumps are sitting by while our country is getting beat up by the enemies within and illegal criminal aliens because of "principles".

I can't believe these dumbshits don't know that the democrats are going to do whatever they want anyway regardless of whether the Republicans did it first. It is like the whole 15 years of handwringing about the nuclear option before Reid did it anyway never happened.
This is where smart GOP folks in DC cut a deal with the Dems. Fix the crappy legislation that is the NEA in exchange for enough votes to override this veto.

Yeah, I need someone to tell me what the Senate vote was for all the previous emergency declarations. Never heard of the legislature having a damn thing to do with it, before this one. Anyone?
There was no Senate vote, because no other POTUS has used the NEA to override the Congessional, budgeting process. Even though 90% of them were not actual emergencies, they were not controversial issues.

Pretty big difference. Trump using public funds that Congress wouldn't give to him by declaring a fake emergency is completely different and you know that

I can't speak for others but if Rand had his way, there would be no border crisis to begin with. If Trump got away with this, who's to say the next Dem potus won't declare an emergency for climate change or gun control?

LOL, if Rand ran for the Senate again---he'll win a landslide. These Trumptards are going to look like real deal fools when Dems win the senate in 2020 and thanks to that orange buffoon in the WH.

No thanks, Rand actually wants to end America's war policing and the War on Drugs. Those topics are important to me, more so than some dumb wall.

This is nonsense.
How is protecting the country "getting away" with something??
Serious question.
