Wakes us up to the fact that he is an actual, principled small-government minded politician that understands the role of the U.S. Constitution?

Wicker was reelected last November and won't be on the ballot until 2024.

Another factor in his decision being so many years out from reelection that he felt like he could vote this way.

Compare and contrast that with Thom Tillis who said he would vote against Trump and then changed his mind when he was threatened with Primary challengers next year when he's up for reelection.

If this was really true, Rand would be introducing legislation to repeal the NEA or at least amend it, not grandstand over a meaningless vote that will be vetoed and has no hope for override and only emboldens his political enemies.

Trump has told Congress that he wouldn't protest changes to the NEA but this resolution is a non starter.

That's because the Republican Party fears limited government more than they do socialism.

Right, that must be why the overwhelming majority of republicans just voted to do something about the 139 billion dollars of taxpayer money that gets spent on criminal aliens every year, and suckass libertarian Rand Paul’s intermittent principles voted for the flow of illegals to continue. Complete horseshite.

And Devin Nunes was one of the biggest supporters of FISA's 702 reauthorization, the very mechanism that likely forms the basis for the Trump counterintelligence probe. Is Nunes called a cuck by the Republicans on this board, despite his willingness to potentially give a Socialist those powers in 2020? Paul has publicly supported both a border wall and strengthened border security, just not by emergency declaration. Rand and Trump have one of the better working relationships in Washington. You don't think Trump knew how Rand was going to vote on this?

Fact: Rand Paul and 11 other Republicans are Anti-American , open border loving Liberals.

And Republicans continue to vote for endless wars, foreign aid to wealthy countries, corporate welfare, UN funding, NATO funding, the surveillance state, all the while doing absolutely nothing about ending entitlements here in this country. You know what would end illegal immigration quicker than a wall? Getting rid of the welfare state, but the average Republican would run from that vote quicker than Usain Bolt.

Well let’s all celebrate that moral victory together, shall we? It’s not like Americans are being killed, robbed, raped, and the American taxpayer being fleeced by these criminal aliens or anything, right?

Fact: this "limited government" "conservative" probably voted for John McCain and Mitt Romney.

And what does that Constitution that he supposedly gives a damn about, say the job of the federal government is? Let’s have a look, shall we?

Section 4
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion;and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

How many hundred thousand illegal aliens were detained on American soil last month. 300,000?

How many weren’t caught?

Tell me again how Rand gives a damn about the Constitution. Mike Lee can suck it too. I used to be a fan of his.

You seem pissed off that the federal government isn't very good at doing its job.

And you want to enable that same government.

The government sucks. Get used to it.

Mistake 1) not compromising in the 90s to build the wall.

Mistake 2) trump platforming for Mexico to pay for the wall. What did he expect to see in Congress when he wanted the same money that was offered previously?

Mistake 3) not addressing this priority 1 in the first 100 days.

The states need to sue the government for not enforcing the current laws on the books. If they can't get the balls to do that, then the states should burden the cost themselves. Walk the talk.

Otherwise, we will have this same discussion 30 years from now (just like we did 30 years ago).

I'm amazed at the small gov't Republicans that are all the sudden IN FAVOR of the Executive branch circumventing the Congressional process to invest BILLIONS of dollars making the gov't bigger and more powerful. It's like there's no possibility of another party ever controlling the Executive branch again.

I'm glad he got this shite voted down.

Yeah, let’s hypothetical the shite out of this, why don’t we?

Hypothetically, if there were laws against the welfare state, and the Constitution said that the federal governments job was to protect the states from the welfare state would suckass libertarian Rand Paul vote to maintain the welfare state? Hypothetically, it looks like he would, immigration laws and Constitution be damned.

Guess we’ll have to pass some laws and amend the Consitution to find out if he doesn’t really give a shite about those too, huh?

The point of my argument was that there are two Senators who are unapologetically against the welfare state in almost every facet. One of them is Rand Paul and the other is Mike Lee. If everyone in the Senate held the views of these two Senators, we wouldn't have a federal welfare state. The federal welfare state, and its subsidization of state welfare systems, is what primarily attracts illegal immigrants here. Without these taxpayer subsidized incentives, we wouldn't have hordes of illegals trying to get into this country.
