It's a giant place. Takes like 45 minutes to drive from one end to the other, and it's 95 percent piney woods and bombed out piney woods.

One of the bases I was on had an indoor shooting range you could bring your own weapon on but it was a giant hassle as you had to alert the MPs prior to getting on post, paperwork, etc. You couldn't just show up with your own personal weapon unannounced, MP's don't like that very much.

ETA: Added "One of the bases I was on..."

Great question, it doesn't work. There's an active shooter there right now.

Damn, if only the post was a gun free zone…

Military installations are essentially gun free zones as they don't allow conceal carry. Every time I head to Fort Leonard Wood, I have to make sure I don't have my gun on me

So everybody on military bases SHOULD carry at all times, yes?

That’s the best policy in your view?

Nice bitch slap.

Gun free zones are so effective and criminals really respect such places.

You aren't allowed to carry on military installations, so in essence, there are no good guys with a gun on posts

Yes, they should all be allowed the option to conceal carry. Especially when off duty, and should be allowed to keep handguns when they’re below E5 and live in the dorms under the condition they use a finger print safe

Why do military bases have such bad gun policies? Especially during the current administration.

Doesn’t everybody here agree everybody armed at all times is the only way to keep everyone safe?

You were wrong and now deflecting to some gotcha attempt in a thread about possible dead soldiers. frick off

You and I had different experiences with junior enlisted soldiers . I'd be ok with NCO's and commissioned officers carrying a M17 in a holster, but anyone more junior is asking for issues.

Suspect in custody.

5 shot, but no reports of deaths.

Reports of 2nd shooter, but that is likely BS.

Only if you check them out from the armory. The only people with guns are security.

With today’s standards and what the army accepts as a recruit these days, I agree with you.

I was at Ft Leonard wood last fall and they gave the kids in boot camp a break to come through the trade show.

I was like you are doing what?

Then when they came through it was depressing. So few young men you’d want fighting beside you.

Which places have more armed security than military bases?

Like everybody is saying bases are essentially locked down (and can’t bring themselves to admit why) but they STILL have more armed security present than virtually anywhere the average person goes on a daily/weekly basis.
