Almost as retarded as thinking the foundation has to bribe people because of a “high number of call outs”
But,but ALL those presincts were CLOSED!
What happened? And ALL those Officers ignored their RADIOS!
And the Grant Park presinct was gonna burn!

5 Benjamins? But isn't this guy racist? He was a slave owner.

Is the foundation affiliated with any local leaders?
I really hope Lance-Bottom and the District Attorney seek re election in Atlanta. Their political opponents are going to absolutely destroy them with all of the talking points of failures they have given out in the past 3 weeks.
During pressure situations, some people rise above and perform extraordinarily. In this case, we are witnessing one of the bigger bed shits in modern political history.
Thanks Keisha. You go girl.

How much does an attorney cost when you get charged for doing your job?

then citizens should go give money to the foundation so they can give more to the officers
The foundation is providing the $500 bonuses, not the city.
Simply show up, say it took the entire shift to find the lost child or the fender-bender on the Perimeter, and pocket the $.

I'd rather have no money and the backing of the Mayor who is in charge of the police than to have $500. They have hamstrung the police to the point that now they will hesitate if they need to pull their weapon and that could result in them being killed.
Not a good place to be.

Same argument made against the "comply or die" clowns.
"Settle it in court!"

No amount of money is going to help you if you are in prison for doing your job.

They also "abandoned" 4 different presincts and "refused" to answer their radios!(which is almost impossible BTW)
The amount of dumbassery on this board was at an all time last night.
I wish people (on both sides) would think a little harder about where they are 'hearing' shite, and who might be originating it, and why.
But I guess shouting is more fun.

$500 is an insult when your life can be forever ruined by the media and politicians who put you in an unwinnable situation.
Dude put himself in an unwinnable situation....they had old boy hemmed up for a long time in what appears to be a very cordial conversation...and his car was still at Wendy's. When he ran off he would have been beaten to the house by the cops....but dude decided what the hell, I am justified, I am shooting the bastard. I am justified in crossing the street with a Walk sign lit up but if a mack truck is booming along and obviously ain't gonna stop if I decide to step out in front of the truck 'cause I can I am still gonna get run over. Dude stepped in front of a truck and got run over...he made the decision. Could have just as easily decided to let old boy jet....and pick him up later....now he is charged with a crime, property is destroyed, folks is dead....if nothing lese old boy proved he could make a damn bad decision. And yes, of course, the dead POS make a damned worse decision....2 idiots doing what idiots do in time of want....

The problem(s) are not going to be solved with $500. Those officers are on their own now.
I bet eery last one of 'em thinks a little longer and harder about wrestling and fighting and shooting a fleeing suspect...all of which is justifiable but simply a piss poor idea...

You sure are triggered and projecting your anger with one situation onto my comment.
I was making a general comment that is valid regardless of what happened in Minnesota or Atlanta.
I stand by my comment. It is still true even if you don't like it.

This is the most bullshite talking point out there. If he let him go with his weapon and he hurt another person the DA would hang him out to dry for that as well.
Let's face the fact here that the cop is only being prosecuted because he is white and the dead guy is black and the DA is black and the Mayor is black.

SO what charges would have been brought against the cop if the guy had whupped him and walked off and in the same night, lets say within anywhere from 30 seconds to 60 years later, killed someone? None...the kind of charge that is EASY to beat in court...there ain't no law against the police getting whupped....it happens from time to time. You are correct, there may have been some public outrage but even that would not happen most likely. The cop would've probably been ridiculed no end and the cop may have missed out on some promotion potential but he wouldn't be charged with a crime if he got his arse whupped.
quote:I don't debate that at all and I think they have an impossible time getting a conviction....because it is not against the law in Georgia for the police to shoot a fleeing suspect. It is a political charge there is no way around it....but it is one document case that is egregious as many cases where just the opposite is the case...a white DA protects a white cop for shooting a black person.....both are equally wrong and they do not make a right BUT it is pretty evident that most on this board lean toward the latter scenario being at least acceptable if not right.
Let's face the fact here that the cop is only being prosecuted because he is white and the dead guy is black and the DA is black and the Mayor is black.
At the end of the day it should not be legal for the police to shoot at let alone shoot a fleeing suspect. In this instance it was legal....and the effort should be in changing that for the next time, not arresting and charging this idiot. He should simply be fired for conduct unbecoming a policeman.
