That makes six now.

Seems odd that 6 reps from one state all "retiring" at the same time.

Perhaps they're just tired of the toxic environment in DC, especially towards GOP and conservatives, and their families.

It’s only a problem if they represent a district that could be competitive.

Don't know about forced out.

I'd lean more towards getting out before a light gets shown on him.

Being a Congressman when your party is in the minority sucks. Plain and Simple. You control nothing, you can't get anything done, you have to expand all your favors on getting a few minor projects done for your district that won't make anyone happy and you have to run and raise money nonstop.

Then add in that you have to deal with the other party in this type of toxic environment and its just not worth it for someone that has been there a few years and doesn't have any fight left in them.

I truly believe it's the deep state at work.....blackmailing these individuals to either resign or they will go public with whatever dirt they have against them. (I'm truly convinced that 90+% of EVERYONE in DC is dirty)

Well, they are either cowards who should have never asked to go to the 'front lines'...or they are dirty, and compromised in a way that would destroy their personal life.

A lot of these relatively naïve and egotistical grandstanders who like to see their name in lights, while making a big money score, are low hanging fruit for big time DC players who play Leftist hard ball. God only knows what they have on these people, being Obama has listened in on most every conversation of every serious political opponent since he gained power. Hell, Hillary got the FBI files on Opponents back when; and everybody winked and nodded.

Votes won't be the arbiter of our future. Votes will be the problem. Events will. Big events, and the repercussions therein.

I’ve heard this as well. Operatives digging hard for dirt and forcing them to resign before they are outed.

Some of you people need to get outside and get some fresh air. Seriously.

They're being given the opportunity to hit the door before it it shown to them. This is Trump's way of being kind.

Take a look at the disproportionate number of CEOs and other C-suite executives who have resigned under Trump, too...

I think he's term limited as Ranking Member on Armed Services. That, plus generally being in the minority, would be very frustrating. Thus not much reason to stick around.

Certainly not fear of a close election or primary challenge. He's solid in his District.

Thornberry is a casualty of the GOP's term limits on committee chairmanship

There are 200 republicans in the house. If 16 quit each cycle they would have to average almost 13 terms or 25 years in office.

Why don’t people do math before they blurt out shite?

That frees them up to vote to impeach. They have no worry about reelection.
